    I myself, have limited my work away from any Diode-Based receivers. My initial work in them when I was 6 years old, from a Scientific American article on receivers, was rather dodgy. I finally came to believe that the snippets of voices I was hearing came from "Skip reception", that was also present in my Amateur radio work, This "Skip reception" came from transmissions from places that theoretically I shouldn't be able to receive, and usually consisted of snippets of dialogue, being bounced around the atmosphere, when condition was right for it. As I was located in the Canadian North....polar lights would magnify this condition greatly.

    "Interactive communication" would truly be the pinnacle of all EVP work. I think the closest that we have achieved is with Andres Ramos (God Of EVP), and some direct mentioning of his personal current situations. I do understand that you are attempting to redo existing work exactly, as am attempt to verify the original experiments.

    I do find this set up fascinating, basically exciting a germanium diode with 2 electromagnetic fields, Did you also attempt exciting the diode with regular magnets as well?? Why does this require such a long antenna wire??

    The eltron photo is a beautiful example of a really nicely built Geranium Diode. While I initially played with them, I have strayed away from using any sort of geranium diode, or transistor, as I find them faaar too easily picking up external am transmission, especially when paired with any sort of coil. This is my own personal opinion, please continue your experimentation.

    As soon as I saw the coil, I immediately thought "this is a repurposed relay coil". The whole screw onto an object immediately made me thing of Andres Ramos's Coherer unit, altho his unit does not use any form of Diodes that I can think of....ummm, or a coil. His Coherer unit is very easy to build, and has been very positive in its output. I would keep away from using a unshielded cassette recorder, and would use a digital recorder, or the direct input into a computer card. DO NOT take anything that I have said as indication that you should discontinue your current experimentation, in any way.

    One thing that Andres Ramos (God of EVP) has taught me is that there are NO hard and fast rules in regards to EVP. Parts placement and exact location of Components in relation to each other does not seem important. Winding of coils would seem to be the only really exacting part of the circuit....but as you may have found out, early descriptions of such things are aggravatingly lacking. I think failure of such devices is not because of construction of circuitry, but failure of the people running it, as well as failure to perceive the voices. Good solid construction techniques, shielded cables within the boxes, and as interconnection cables is an absolute must.

    I have built many Tesla Coils, and as far as Im concerned a Insulated screwdriver is not the best choice to draw out the output it produces!!

    I myself, with the help of Andres am working on video and audio transmission via Laser. I am hoping to not just get voices, but video of spirits as well. Unfortunately, this unit requires a old-fashioned TV with component in....but I do have an old TUBE-Screen monitor in my office, as long as it doesnt peter out. Anyone else working on video-transmission of spirits??

    Andres has been looking into the equivalent of faces in TV screens, but I am waiting for Fortean Times to print the article about it, as its fascinating, and is guaranteed to blow your mind! I do not want to explain any further, as it will spoil the publication of the article, so be patient for it to be published.

    Electronics Tech, building stuff since I was 9 years old, Spent 30 years in the Film industry, while building things for the film industry in my spare time. Now that Im 60. Im still building.

    Oh, and to add, this would definatly be considered a ITC Impulse Unit, in my mind. Once again , with your explaination, maybe someway to reduce the modulation to a more steady state would leave the portal open for a longer period of time, and would reduce the amount of clipping in the Portal????

    This is a truly amazing way to go. It is very much like a "Wet Coherer". The short lived "Hole" in the "Barrier makes a lot of sense, and explains a lot of the effects of Short-term receiving. I look forward to hearing further news on this experiment, as it requires very few components to experiment with.

    Yes, there are rocks that generate electricity. The 2 that I can think of, on the top of my head are Piezo Electric, and Germanium. I see a lot of elements of a Coherer Receivers, and Crystal diode receivers in Dr. Jeffers work, but I dont want him to stop his work in any way, as I will be fascinated as always by any work in this field. As per usual, I do want to caution anyone working with crystal diodes and coils, that even without an antenna, these 2 elements often become a powerful broadband receiver, that can be corrupted by Radio Stations. Even without an antenna, this can happen This is why I specifically work on shielded circuits, that cannot be corr I have to say that I believe that, even with the high inductance coils, and no antenna, this device will still be able to receive broadcast stations, and for proper use, would have to be physically shielded within a metal case, and all connection wires would have to be shielded as well. Probably in the years that this was developed, and originally used, broadcast stations were not a threat as they are today. Again, this is only my belief, and I do not wish to hamper any work that you are doing with this. Please continue, as I will be fascinated to see your results.

    I built one of these from a Scientific American article when I was 9 years old (I am now 60 for reference) It only consisted of a inductor, a capacitor , and a diode...in other words, A CRYSTAL RADIO! It was a wonderful wide-band receiver, picking up radio stations like CRAZY! This is why I stay away from anything that uses a crystal diode, and relies on over the air reception.

    Dont give up on ancient diodes just yet, I have purchased many on ebay, of various styles. There seems to be an abundance of European Military surplus ones available, quite cheap

    My first thought about passing a beam thru water is that it will simply scatter the beam in all directions, making the beam useless, but I have no proof of this. The audio files that Andres is producing are simply amazing.

    I have put this question to Andres Ramos, who I believe has purchased a Tesla coil from China, and is waiting for this to be delivered, but I thought I would throw this out there for everyone. I have seen time after time, people claiming the scent of Ozone when Ghosts have supposedly been seen, and there have been many experiments by a TV "Ghost" Personality, using Ozone Generator, and Tesla Coils during ghost hunts. Overall these experiments have led to a increased voices on receivers when the High voltage generators have been turned on. So whatcha think?

    I have been following, with great interest the various schematics for receivers, especially ones presented by Andres Ramos. Andres schematics and theories are absolutely flawless, and usually produce amazing results. The problem seems to be that while we are up to our neck with various receiver schematics, we seem to need to start looking at post signal processing now. We really need to start looking at something that really processes these (usually) croaky, wispy signals into something better, something much more solid and easily understandable. I do no not specialize in audio theories, as I am a electronics construction-guy, so I am calling out for people that can begin designing the audio processing/noise reduction that is need at this time.
