  2. camp.jpg.bcf345c521a8e10dca4d4cce436072fa.jpgWonewoc Spiritualist Camp

Wisconsin was fertile ground for Spiritualism in the 1800s and is home to the Morris Pratt Institute in Whitewater which remains the only Spiritualist College in the United States. The small village of Wonewoc, northwest of Madison, became home to the Western Wisconsin Camp Association at that time.

In the mid-1800s, a group of 13 pioneer families led by Rubin Fisk traveled west from Erie County, New York and settled in the hills of the Baraboo Valley, establishing the town of Wonewoc. Many of them were spiritualists, including Jerome Potter. Potter was born in Massachusetts in 1835, and moved to Wonewoc where he taught at the school house. He organized the first Spiritualist meetings in 1874 and they formed the Joint Stock Spiritualists Association soon afterward.

Early members included medium Mrs. Cecelia Ray, daughter of John Rowan and her sister, Arella, who practiced slate writing. Charles S. Marsh was listed as a semi-trance speaker in the 1871 Year Book of Spiritualism and Rubin Fisk was a delegate to the First National Convention of Spiritualists in Chicago in 1893.

Members hosted dances and lectures to raise money, and by 1893 they had saved enough to purchase densely wooded land along the bluffs. They cleared brush, drilled a well, pitched tents, and by 1901 the camp was established. It was named Unity Park, and was intended to be the site of their annual statewide convention. In 1902, they formed the Western Wisconsin Camp Association. Tents rented for $3.00 a week and hundreds of people came by train to visit the camp.

Tents were eventually replaced by cottages in the early 1900s. Some are one-room; others have multiple rooms and screened porches. A number bear dedications to those who have passed on. The largest, the Andrew Jackson Davis house, has guest rooms and a larger meeting space to host workshops. A chapel and dining hall were built to deal with the crowds, but the chapel was damaged and has fallen into disrepair.

Spiritualists have been on the grounds every summer for over 125 years. There is no admission charge to enter. Visitors can sit at the healing tree or just stroll the grounds of the historical Camp. Mediums, clairvoyants, and healers from across the country live at the camp for all or part of the summer season. There are workshops and classes. Readings are available at cost and the camp offers ice cream socials, campfires and budget-rate lodging in the cabins.

  3. Roundtable on Ectoplasm and Materialization Continues (Part 2)

    Posted on 07 December 2020, 11:39

A virtual roundtable involving four pioneers of psychical research on the subjects of ectoplasm and materialization began with the last blog post here on November 23.  It continues here and will conclude on December 21. The roundtable members are Sir Williams Crookes, Professor Charles Richet, Dr. Gustave Geley, (below) and Dr. Albert von Schrenck-Notzing, all identified in the prior post. I am serving as moderator.

    http://whitecrowbooks.com/images/whitecrow_pics/blogs/tymn/geley.jpgimage.png.e636bcf3047d00e1a4db282654046069.png

As stated in Part 1, the words here are those of the researchers, as extracted from their reports and books, except words in brackets, which are inferred to permit a meaningful flow and link.

Moderator:  Gentlemen, before the break, you discussed the nature of ectoplasm, how it takes on different forms, from a vapor to a thick milky paste, and how materialized objects take shape from or within the ectoplasm, sometimes forming just hands or faces and occasionally a full body.

Richet: [“Correct.] The outcome of these surprising observations is that we can state the stages in the formation of ectoplasms – a whitish steam, perhaps luminous, taking the shape of gauze or muslin, in which there develops a hand or an arm that gradually gains consistency. The ectoplasm makes personal movements.  It creeps, rises from the ground, and puts forth tentacles like an amoeba.  It is not always connected with the body of the medium but usually emanates from her, and is connected with her.”

Moderator:  “Thank you, Professor Richet.  To begin this session, I would like to ask why the so-called cabinet is necessary in the first place.  It is my understanding that these cabinets are mostly curtained-off sections of the room.

Geley: “This dark cabinet has no other purpose than to protect the sleeping medium from disturbing influences, and especially from the action of light. It is thus possible to keep the séance-room sufficiently well lit for perfect observation.”

Schrenck-Notzing: “According to the spiritistic view, the closed cabinet opposes the dispersion of the fluid emanating from the medium. For the carping critic, the cabinet, the darkness of the reduced light, only exist in order to hide the manipulations by means of which the phenomena are fraudulently produced.  That this easily understood view is generally applauded is not surprising.”

Moderator: But why darkness in the first place?

Richet:  “For one reason or another, none, or scarcely any, are produced in full light. This does not apply to D. D. Home who gave astonishing materializations in the light; but in most cases darkness is essential. Sometimes red light, such as used by photographers, can be used and when the medium is very powerful, flashlight photographs can be taken. Nevertheless, darkness is usually so necessary that the medium must be protected by a curtain (forming a cabinet), notably at the beginnings of the phenomena. Only behind this curtain, even when the room is darkened, can preliminary changes take place. This will cause skeptics to smile; but in point of fact what does darkness matter?  Can darkness create a living face and produce a white veil?”

Crookes: “I have said that darkness is not essential. It is, however, a well-ascertained fact that when the force is weak a bright light exerts an interfering action on some of the phenomena. The power possessed by Mr. Home is sufficiently strong to withstand this antagonistic influence.”

Geley: “The detrimental action of light on ectoplasmic forms is not surprising. Light is well known to be fatal to many micro-organisms, and seems to hinder the organization of primordial forms of life.”

Schrenck-Notzing: “The recent investigations by W. J. Crawford have shown that white light acts destructively on the pseudopods or psychic projections from the medium’s body necessary for the production of telekinetic phenomena. It appears to produce a molecular softening of the invisible ‘rods’; while red light acts much more feebly.  It is, therefore, necessary to consider the reflection, refraction and absorption of the light used in the séance room … All [my] observations agree in this, that a white light has a hindering and disturbing effect on the phenomena, and an unfavorable action on the development of the teleplasm.”

Moderator: If I understand all this correctly, mediums vary in power and the ability to produce phenomena as well as to resist light depends on that power. Mr. Home must have been an exceptionally powerful medium to be able to produce in good light.

Crookes: “I may at once answer one objection which has been made in several quarters, viz., that my results would carry more weight had they been tried a greater number of times, and with persons, and with other persons besides Mr. Home. The fact is, I have been working at the subject for two years, and have found nine or ten different persons who possess psychic power in more or less degree; but its development in Mr. D. D. Home is so powerful, that, having satisfied myself by careful experiments that the phenomena observed were genuine, I have, merely as a matter of convenience, carried on my experiments with him, in preference to working with others in whom the power existed in a less striking degree.”

Schrenck-Notzing: “The exhaustion of the medium is, as a rule, in proportion to the strength of the phenomena.  But the effort involved in the action of the medium’s organism is much greater when the audience is unfavorable.  Occasionally, the mood of the medium may be adversely affected by unsympathetic personalities, or by contemptuous treatment.”

Geley: “A light, especially if sudden and unexpected, produces a painful start in the medium.  However, nothing is more variable than the light-effects; in some cases the substance can stand even full daylight.  The magnesium flashlight causes a violent start in the medium, but it is borne, and allows of instantaneous photographs. In the effects of light on the substance, and its repercussion on the medium, it is difficult to distinguish between real pain and mere reflex; both, whether pain or reflex, impede investigation.”

Moderator: I understand that the medium experiences much pain as the ectoplasm is being exuded from her or his body.

Geley: (Referring to the medium known as Eva C.)  “The phenomena appear (when they do appear) after a variable interval, sometimes very brief, sometimes an hour or more.  They always begin by painful sensations in the medium; she sighs and moans from time to time much like a woman in childbirth.  These moans reach their height just when the manifestation begins, they lessen or cease when the forms are complete.”

Moderator: Does the ectoplasm usually flow from the mouth?

Geley: “The most frequent and most easily observed origin is from the mouth; the substance is then seen to proceed from the interior surfaces of the cheeks, the roof of the palate, and the gums … [It also] exudes from the natural orifices and the extremities, from the top of the head, from the nipples, and the ends of the fingers.” (Schrenck-Notzing here leaned toward Geley and reminded him of those instances when the teleplasm/ectoplasm flowed from the vagina of Eva C.)  Geley nodded in agreement.)

Moderator: Can we go back to the materializations themselves? Some of them are so fragmentary and so strange in appearance that it is difficult to believe they are real, whatever “real” means here.

Richet: “The fact of the appearance of flat images rather than of forms in relief is no evidence of trickery.  It is imagined, quite mistakenly, that a materialization must be analogous to a human body and must be three dimensional. This is not so.  There is nothing to prove that the process of materialization is other than a development of a completed form after a first stage of coarse and rudimentary lineaments formed from the cloudy substance.”

Moderator: Knowing that Professor Richet and Dr. Schrenck-Notzing resist or are skeptical concerning the possibility that spirits are behind these materializations, I have kept this subject for the end, but I find it difficult to avoid at this point. I have heard the spiritist’s view on this, that these very imperfect productions can be likened to asking humans to do self portraits.  The very artistic person might succeed in varying degrees, but most people would fail badly and their likenesses would be as bizarre as most of the ectoplasmic formations.  Graduation to the spirit world does not enhance one’s artistic ability, it is further said.  On the other hand, the spiritist’s view set aside, if it is somehow being produced by the medium’s subconscious, the medium’s artistic ability might be a factor.  Does that make sense?

Geley: [“Exactly!] Since ectoplasmic formation is a function (a) of a dynamic and material externalization of the medium and (b) of ideoplastic organization of the externalized elements, it is easy to understand why perfect materializations should be few. To build up in a few seconds an organ or an organism biologically complete – to create life – is a metapsychic feat which can but rarely produce a perfect result. That is why the great majority of materializations are incomplete, fragmentary, defective, and show lacunae in their structures. The forms are seldom other than more or less successful attempts at hands, faces, and organisms … To have produced the astonishing varieties of form, the fringes with half-formed fingers, faces, or hands in the mass would have seemed absurd to a medium who was wishing to simulate a spirit materialization ... The defects in some materializations do not imply fraud but quite otherwise.”

Moderator:  The skeptics scoff at the idea of clothes being worn by the materializations. Any thoughts on this matter?

Richet: “This objection is somewhat naïve, for the materialization of a hand is no easier to understand than of the glove that covers it. It is, however, clear that materialization may be of inanimate objects and not of the human body only. The garments are usually veils or draperies, usually white, like muslin, produced by the gradual transformation of the whitish and more or less luminous cloud with which the apparition begins.”

Crookes: [“I see that Ms. Marryat is still amongst the audience. May I ask her to tell of her observations with Katie King?”] (Florence Marryat, the renowned British author, then moves forward to the table and speaks.)

Marryat: “She was always attired in white drapery, but it varied in quality. Sometimes it looked like long cloth; at others like mull muslin or jaconet; oftenest it was a species of thick cotton net. The sitters were much given to asking ‘Katie’ for a piece of her dress to keep as a souvenir of their visit, and when they received it, would seal it up carefully in an envelope and convey it home; and were much surprised on examining their treasure to find it had totally disappeared. Katie used to say that nothing material about her could be made to last without taking away some of the medium’s vitality, and weakening her in consequence.”

Crookes: [“Tell them about Katie cutting up the dress.”]

    http://whitecrowbooks.com/images/whitecrow_pics/blogs/tymn/katie.jpgimage.png.2dea81cb14298efcf7861220b37bc609.png

Marryat: “One evening, when she was cutting off pieces of her dress rather lavishly, I remarked that it would require a great deal of mending. She answered, ‘I’ll show you how we mend dresses in the Spirit World.’ She then doubled up the front breadth of her garment a dozen times, and cut two or three round holes in it. I am sure when she let it fall again there must have been thirty or forty holes, and Katie said, ‘Isn’t that a nice cullender?’ She then commenced, whilst we stood close to her, to shake her skirt gently about, and in a minute it was a perfect as before, without a hole to be seen.” (Crookes then asked her to tell about cutting Katie’s hair.)

“She told me to take the scissors and cut off her hair. She had a profusion of ringlets falling to her waist that night. I obeyed religiously, hacking the hair wherever I could, whilst she kept on saying, ‘Cut more! Cut more! Not for yourself, you known, because you can’t take it away.’ So I cut off curl after curl, and as fast as they fell to the ground, the hair grew again upon her head. When I had finished, Katie asked me to examine her hair, to see if I could detect any place, where I had used the scissors, and I did so without any effect. Neither was the severed hair to be found. It had vanished out of sight.”

Part 3, which will discuss the “intelligence” behind the materializations will be posted on December 21.

  5. Large numbers of people from Syracuse, Auburn and Ithaca flocked to Moravia, New York to see spiritual manifestations in the 1870-80s. The Morris Keeler House stood at the base of a range of hills that overlooked the town of about 1200 people. The Keelers provided lodging to a dozen people at a time, but lodging was not what the house was known for. It was thought to be built on a magnetic hill. “There [was} something undefinable in the atmosphere of the place,” the Genesee Courier stated in 1871.

Every spirit house needs a medium. Mary Mehan was born to Denis and Hanora Mehan in 1841. As a young girl, she was adopted out to a family in Moravia, but her parents wanted her back because of a disagreement about religion. Mary ran away from home after her return and ended up moving in with the Keelers where she worked as a domestic servant.

The Keelers soon discovered that Mary had a talent for contacting the spirit world. In a second–floor room, about twelve by fourteen feet in size, they partitioned an alcove to create a cabinet. The partition contained a small rectangular-shaped window with a black cloth curtain. It was at this window that spirits appeared.  There was also a piano in the room which often played.

Mary held seances twice a day, every day, charging 50 cents per person for large groups.  The seances generally lasted about two hours. Half was held in darkness and half by lantern light. Some spirits visited regularly, including: Honto, a Native American woman: Rosa, an angel guide; and Sukey, a Native American girl.

Mary was known for physical displays, voices, and piano music. Physical manifestations included hands touching attendees while they sat in darkness; hands, arms, and faces appearing at the window in a lit room, lights flickering and dancing about, and colored clouds gathering overhead. Voices spoke in whispers to normal speech, and some spirits spoke with accents.

Mary married John Andrews in 1863 and they had three daughters, Minnie, Nettie and Fannie. The family lived with the Keelers, John working as a farmhand, until about 1870, when they moved next door. Mary continued to hold seances at the Keeler House, apparently making enough money that the family could afford to move to a better house in town by 1880.

Mr. Keeler died in 1886 and his family disputed his will, questioning his sanity because of his association with Spiritualism. In the court case, it was found that: “While to some minds a belief in spiritualism might seem strange and be an evidence of weak and even morbid intellect, it cannot be held as a matter of law or fact to be evidence of insanity.”

Mary’s ability to continue her seances at the house is unknown. She died in Monrovia in 1901.

  7. ANNIE LORD CHAMBERLAIN: Musical Medium

Annie Lord was born in Maine to Cyrus and Lydia (Luce) Lord in 1842, the second of their three children. Dr. Lord held regular spiritual circles in his home. Jennie, who was six years older than Annie, was first to display a talent for communication with the spirit world. It wasn’t until Annie was about 12 years old that she felt tingling in her arms and hands, like touching a “galvanic battery.”

Dr. Lord was instructed by the spirits to work with Annie by sitting in a circle with her three times a day for ten days. At the end of that time, he was told that she would be a physical medium. She placed a guitar under a table at noon, in broad daylight, and the instrument played. That was followed by loud raps on the walls, floor, and ceiling. Their practice sessions continued. They added bells, a tambourine, and other small instruments. She used a white porcelain slate, held under a table, to write messages.

When Annie joined the circle in a darkened room, her abilities increased. In 1864, at the house of Mr. T. Lane in South Malden, Massachusetts, about 20 people attended her séance. A table was set with small instruments, including hand bells, a musical box, and trumpets. Other instruments, a guitar, banjo, violin, drum, and violincello rested on the floor. According to one witness, “All the instruments seemed to sound in concert and exact time to our singing….”

At one point, she went to the home of Mr. Burnell of Westbrook, Maine where her skills were tested. She held her circles in daylight so they could be observed. During that time, footsteps were heard throughout the house. She produced 37 written communications on new paper placed in a locked drawer. She also manifested music, singing, and fresh flowers

Annie’s health was fragile, and she moved to Auburn to recuperate. Unfortunately, her reputation followed her. Hundreds requested audiences. She was used by some of her guides to diagnose diseases and prescribe for the sick. She was even known to cure mental illness.

Eventually, she was taken in by Colonel William Cushman and his wife in Ottawa, Illinois. “Her constitution was naturally frail and delicate and had been so fearfully overtaxed that it seemed impossible under merely mundane influences that her life could be extended.”

Annie married Mr. Chamberlain, a man much older than her, and as she grew older, spent less time with her mediumship. She lived a long life and died in 1920 in Milford, Massachusetts.

Experts Discuss Ectoplasm and Materialization in Virtual Roundtable

    Posted on 23 November 2020, 10:12

Given the recent blogs dealing with the physical mediumship of Stewart Alexander, I thought it appropriate to host a virtual roundtable here on the subjects of ectoplasm and materializations. Virtual events seem in vogue in these pandemic times, so why not here? I called upon Professor Charles RichetDr. Gustav GeleyDr. Albert von Schrenck- Notzing, and Sir William Crookes, four pioneers of psychical research to participate in the three-session roundtable, which will continue with my next blog in two weeks. Here are short bios of those four researchers:

Sir William Crookes, FRS – A Fellow of the Royal Society, Crookes studied and taught at the Royal College of Chemistry before becoming a meteorologist at the Radcliffe Observatory, Oxford. He discovered the element thallium and later invented the radiometer and the Crookes Tube, which contributed to the discovery of the X-ray. He is most remembered in psychical research for his investigations of Daniel Dunglas Home and Florence Cook.  His research is summarized in his book, Researches into the Phenomena of Modern Spiritualism, first published in 1904.

Gustave Geley, M.D. – A Laureate of the French Medical Faculty at the University of Lyons, Geley gained some fame for his research into treating such diseases as smallpox and scarlatina. He gave up his medical practice in 1918 to become the first director of the Institut Métapsychique International in Paris. He is most remembered for his research in the area of physical mediumship, especially with the mediums Marthe Béraud (“Eva C.”), Stephan Ossowiecki, Jean Guzik, and Franek Kluski. His primary book on the subject is From the Unconscious to the Conscious, published in 1920.

Charles Richet, M.D., Ph.D. – Winner of the 1913 Nobel Prize in Medicine, Richet was a French physiologist, chemist, bacteriologist, pathologist, psychologist, aviation pioneer, poet, novelist, editor, author, and psychical researcher. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1869 and his Doctor of Science in 1878. He then served as professor of physiology at the medical school of the University of Paris for 38 years. His treatise on metapsychics is titled Thirty Years of Psychical Research.

Albert von Schrenck-Notzing, M.D. – Although educated as a neurologist, Schreck-Notzing, a German aristocrat, was wealthy enough to devote most of his time to psychical research rather than to medicine. His laboratory and library were in his palace home outside Munich. Much of his research is set forth in a 1914 book, Phenomena of Materialization.

I volunteered to serve as moderator of the roundtable. The participants agreed to let words from their various reports and books serve as their responses. Words in brackets are inferred to permit a proper flow or transition or thought.

Moderator: Gentlemen, thank you for agreeing to participate in this virtual roundtable. I’d like to begin by asking Dr. Geley to describe ectoplasm and the materialization process.

Geley: “[My pleasure, young man.] The usual course of the phenomena is as follows: First a strong odor of ozone is perceptible…The smell of ozone comes and goes suddenly.  Then, in weak light, slightly phosphorescent vapor floats around the medium, especially above his head, like light smoke, and in it there are gleams like foci of condensation. These lights were usually many, tenuous, and ephemeral, but sometimes they were larger and more lasting, and then gave the impression of being luminous parts of organs otherwise invisible, especially finger ends or parts of faces. When materialization was complete, fully formed hands and faces could be seen … Different observers – Crookes and Richet among others – have, as is well known, described complete materializations … I have not, alas, observed phenomena so complete, but, on the other hand, I have very frequently seen complete representations of an organ, such as a face, a hand, or a finger.”

Moderator: Very interesting, Dr. Geley. So ectoplasm does not always look like cheesecloth, as so often represented?

Geley: “[Definitely not.] This substance may be exteriorized in a gaseous or vaporous form, or again as a liquid or a solid. The vaporous form is the more frequent and the best known. Near the medium there is outlined or amassed a kind of visible vapour, a sort of fog, often connected with the body of the medium by a thin link of the same substance. In different parts of this fog there then appears what resembles a condensation … These areas of condensation finally take the appearance of organs, whose development is very rapidly completed.”

Moderator: Professor Richet, you’ve worked with Dr. Geley quite a bit. Can you add to his comment?

Richet: “[Most certainly!] In their first stage these ectoplasms are invisible, but can move objects and can give raps on a table. Later on they become visible, though nebulous and sketchy. Still later, they take human form, for they have the extraordinary property that they change their forms and their consistency and evolve under our eyes. In a few seconds, the nebulous embryo that exudes from the body of the medium becomes an actual being … Sometimes the phantom appears suddenly, without passing through the phase of luminous cloud; but this phenomenon is probably of the same order as the slower development. This ectoplasmic formation at the expense of the physiological organism of the medium is now beyond all dispute. It is prodigiously strange, prodigiously unusual, and it would seem so unlikely as to be incredible; but we must give in to the facts.”

Moderator: When they become visible and before they begin to take on some kind of form, what is their appearance?

Richet: “It is a whitish substance that creeps as if alive, with damp, cold, protoplasmic extensions that are transformed under the eyes of the experimenters into a hand, fingers, a head, or even into an entire figure. At first these formations are often very imperfect. Sometimes they show no relief, looking more like flat images than bodies, so that in spite of oneself one is inclined to imagine some fraud, since what appears seems to be the materialization of a semblance, and not of a being. But in some cases the materialization is perfect. At the Villa Carmen I saw a fully organized form rise from the floor. At first it was only a white, opaque spot like a handkerchief lying on the ground before the curtain, then this handkerchief quickly assumed the form of a human head level with the floor, and a few moments later it rose up in a straight line and became a small man enveloped in a kind of white burnous, who took two or three halting steps in front of the curtain and then sank to the floor and disappeared as if through a trap door. But there was no trap door.”

Geley: “[Permit me to further elaborate.] The substance has variable aspects. Sometimes, and most characteristically, it appears as a plastic paste, a true protoplasmic mass; sometimes as a number of fine threads; sometimes as strings of different thickness in narrow and rigid lines; sometimes as a wide band; sometimes as a fine tissue of ill-defined and irregular shape … In fine, the substance is essentially amorphous, or rather, polymorphous.”

Moderator: When it turns from vapor to a dense substance, is it always white?

Geley: “It may show three different colours: white, black, or gray. The white seems the more frequent form, perhaps because it is easiest to observe … To the touch it gives very different sensations, usually having some relation to the form of the moment; it seems soft and somewhat elastic while spreading; hard, knotty, or fibrous when it forms cords. Sometimes it feels like a spider’s web touching the hand of the observer. The threads of the substance are both stiff and elastic. It is mobile. Sometimes it is slowly evolved, rises, and falls, and moves over the medium’s shoulder, her breast, or her lap with a crawling, reptilian movement; sometimes its motion is abrupt and rapid, it appears and disappears like a flash.”

Moderator: Sir William, you were among the first to report seriously on materializations, but you didn’t really report on what Dr. Richet later called ectoplasm. You referred to a luminous cloud. What were your observations in this regard?

Crookes: “The hands and fingers do not always appear to me to be solid and life-like. Sometimes, indeed, they present more the appearance of a nebulous cloud partly condensed into the form of a hand. This is not equally visible to all present. For instance, a flower or other small object is seen to move; one person will see a luminous cloud hovering over it, another will detect a nebulous-looking hand, whilst others will see nothing at all but the moving flower. I have more than once seen, first an object move, then a luminous cloud appear to form about it, and, lastly, the cloud condense into a shape and become a perfectly formed hand. At this stage, the hand is visible to all present. It is not always a mere form, but sometimes appears perfectly life-like and graceful, the fingers moving, and the flesh apparently as human as that of any in the room. At the wrist, or arm, it becomes hazy, and fades off into a luminous cloud.”

Moderator: Have you ever felt one of these materialized hands?

Crookes: “I have retained one of these hands in my own, firmly resolved not to let it escape. There was no struggle or effort made to get loose, but it gradually seemed to resolve itself into vapour, and faded in that manner from my grasp.”

Moderator: Dr. Schrenck-Notzing, I can see you are anxious to add to the discussion and I know that you prefer the word “teleplasm” to ectoplasm.

    image.png.ab87facdc9fe273f7af1ae96dddf5589.png
    Ectoplasm taking shape

Schrenck-Notzing: “Crookes speaks of hand forms condensed from clouds … But not only rough forms of hands, lacking all elements of life were seen, but sometimes having all the plastic characteristics of human organs. On a few occasions, organs true to life – one could almost say living – especially hands (fingers with nails) could be perceived simultaneously by sight, touch, and hearing, while the medium’s hands were kept motionless. These organs showed their living character by grasping objects held out to them, by various movements, by digging their nails into the skin of our hands, while they could not possibly be mistaken for the hands of the medium.”

Moderator: Sir William, your report on the spirit calling herself Katie King has been criticized by many of your peers in science. They claim that Florence Cook, the 15-year-old medium, was able to trick you because of the darkness required, somehow making a quick costume change and appearing as Katie King. How do you respond to them?

Crookes: “Will not my critics give me credit for the possession of some amount of common sense?”

Moderator: I sense your anger and frustration, Sir William, but would you mind elaborating a little on your observations? What exactly took place in your experiments with Miss Cook?

Crookes: “I prepare and arrange my library myself as the dark cabinet, and usually, after Miss Cook has been dining and conversing with us, and scarcely out of our sight for a minute, she walks direct into the cabinet, and I, at her request, lock its second door, and keep possession of the key all through the séance; the gas is then turned out, and Miss Cook is left in the darkness. On entering the cabinet, Miss Cook lies down upon the floor, with her head on the pillow, and is soon entranced. [Katie King then emerges from the cabinet].”

Moderator: I gather that the entranced medium, Miss Cook, remained in the cabinet as Katie King came out, but you reported seeing them both at the same time and also noted differences in appearance.

Crookes: “During a séance [in my home], after Katie had been walking amongst us and talking for some time, she retreated behind the curtain which separated my laboratory where the company was sitting, from my library which did temporary duty as a cabinet. In a minute, she came to the curtain and called me to her saying, ‘Come into the room and lift my medium’s head up, she has slipped down.’ Katie was then standing before me clothed in her usual white robes and turban head dress. I immediately walked into the library up to Miss Cook, Katie stepping aside to allow me to pass. I found Miss Cook had slipped partly off the sofa, and her head was hanging in a very awkward position. I lifted her on the sofa, and in so doing had satisfactory evidence in spite of the darkness, that Miss Cook was not attired in the ‘Katie” costume, but had on her ordinary black velvet dress, and was in a deep trance. Not more than three seconds elapsed between my seeing the white-robed Katie standing before me and my raising Miss Cook on to the sofa. from the position into which she had fallen.”

Moderator: Excuse me, Sir William, there is a lady in the audience raising her hand and desiring to say something. (Crookes immediately recognizes her as Florence Marryat, the renowned British author, and invites her comments.)

Marryat: “[I was present at several of the séances at which Katie King materialized]. I have seen both Florrie and Katie together on several occasions, so I can have no doubt on the subject that they were two separate creatures … One evening, Katie walked out and perched herself upon my knee. I could feel she was a much plumper and heavier woman than Miss Cook, but she wonderfully resembled her in features, and I told her so… [Katie] took up her station against the drawing-room wall, with her arms extended as if she were crucified. Then the gas-burners were turned on to their full extent ... The effect upon ‘Katie King’ was marvelous. She looked like herself for the space of a second only, then she began gradually to melt away. I can compare the dematerialization of her form to nothing but a wax doll melting before a hot fire. First, the features became blurred and indistinct; they seemed to run into each other. The eyes sank in the sockets, the nose disappeared, the frontal bone fell in. Next the limbs appeared to give way under her, and she sank lower and lower on the carpet like a crumbling edifice. At last there was nothing but her head left above the ground – then a heap of white drapery only, which disappeared with a whisk, as if a hand had pulled it after her – and we were left staring by the light of three gas-burners at the spot on which ‘Katie King’ had stood.”

This roundtable discussion will continue on December 7 and conclude on December 21. Among other things, the purpose of the cabinet and the need for darkness will be discussed in Part 2.

  9. Gordon Higginson often recounted that he had been hurt during physical séances on a couple of occasions. This article in Psychic News by Maurice Barbanell documents one such occasion. During a physical séance, a loud click in the room caused the ectoplasm coming from Gordon’s body to suddenly return. This caused a burn to the solar plexus area. Gordon also discusses this incident in his biography ‘On the Side of Angels’ and the relevant section is also reproduced below. Here is the full article from Psychic News:
    Gordon Gets Burnt
    By Maurice Barbanell
Was it the surreptitious use of a tape-recorder or some other electronic apparatus that caused Gordon Higginson to have a severe burn during his last physical seance?
This happened at Stansted Hall, Essex, on March 12th 1977 when about 60 sitters saw a display of ectoplasm emerge from him.
As his child control began to speak, a loud click was heard. There was a silence. Then a second control asked whether anybody had brought in a recorder or other electronic apparatus, which all had been requested to leave outside the seance room.
Because of this burn, added the control, his medium was being brought back to normality.
The man who had searched Gordon before the sitting was asked to accompany him as he left the room to verify there was a bad burn. This man presently returned and said that Gordon was blistered around the solar plexus.
Medium Doris Stokes, who was formerly a nurse and who was present, told me that not only was there this solar-plexus burn, but Gordon was suffering from high blood pressure.
Now I have used tape-recorders at Gordon’s physical seances, but naturally had permission to do so beforehand. Can they harm mediums, or is there some other explanation?
Source: Psychic News 26th March 1977
Here is the section from page 66 of 'On the Side of Angels' where Gordon discusses the incident (though the date is not quite accurate):
“Another seance which went wrong was in the summer of 1976. It was most peculiar; the seance was quite normal in the library at Stansted Hall. There were about 80 people. I had entranced, and the ectoplasm was emerging.
Cuckoo had started to speak when apparently there was a loud click. The ectoplasm immediately withdrew and I was burned, not seriously thank goodness, but with quite a nasty burn around my solar plexus. I left and went to my room. Clairaudient Doris Stokes was present. As she had been a nurse, Doris followed me and was able to check that it didn’t need treatment, but she said she thought I had high blood pressure as well.
Tape recorders had been used at previous séances, but always with the permission and knowledge of the guides. Of course we never found out just what happened and can only assume that this was the cause, but it illustrates the danger present in every demonstration of physical mediumship where you allow people in on trust. It may be that static electricity had built up in the room. The guides said it was some form of radiation, but you’re going to take so many precautions when you demonstrate to a crowd.”

    About the author

Praise for It’s Life And Death, But Not As You Know It!

“Who better to take readers on an exploration of the paranormal than Tricia Robertson, an experienced researcher of spontaneous phenomena as well as a dedicated investigator of mediumship under test conditions? Her previous books dealt impressively with the evidence for life after death that she had either experienced personally or had gathered from those who had it thrust upon them through unsought encounters with the unknown. These meaningful events appeared to be signals to them from loved ones who had died. Her latest book takes readers much deeper into the paranormal, providing a wealth of testimony from well-qualified eyewitnesses to phenomena that are, quite literally, beyond belief. Robertson has condensed some of her own work with the very best reports, from more than a century of psychical research around the world, into very readable accounts that require no special knowledge of the subject on the part of her readers. The extraordinary events described in its pages will challenge many of her readers’ assumptions about a wide variety of paranormal phenomena and, indeed, the very nature of reality. Interaction with the spirits of the dead may be a possible explanation in some cases, but others appear to be almost impossible to explain. Robertson leaves it to her readers to make up their own minds, though I suspect most will be satisfied simply to enjoy the entertainment value of the astonishing reports she shares and leave the speculation to others”.

~ Roy Stemman, journalist and author of Surgeon From Another World and The Big Book of Reincarnation.

“Fascinating and thought-provoking. Tricia is an inspired teacher and this book captures the unique style that I’m sure she applied in the very popular courses in Psychical Research she ran for six years for the Department of Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) at the University of Glasgow in conjunction with Professor Archie Roy.

Whereas in her first two books she covered the evidence for different forms of mediumship as well as reincarnation, poltergeist activity, paranormal healing cases, and hauntings, in this book she takes a different tack.

“Tricia covers a huge amount of ground with details that even those familiar with the field of paranormal research will find fascinating. Most of the cases raise questions about the as yet undocumented powers of the mind, a subject at the core of serious psychical research as well as consciousness studies.

“Anyone claiming to investigate the paranormal or to be involved with mediumship needs to understand the implications of the studies she cites on clairvoyance, precognition, retrocognition, as well as thoughtography, all of which do not appear to involve spirit contact.

Tricia makes it clear that she remains firmly in the camp of survival of consciousness, but she treats reader with respect – giving him/her first an overview, and frequently details of the best cases, and then says “It is up to you now to make up your mind about all of this or perhaps investigate this further for yourself”.

“Tricia has done a sterling job of succinctly summarising the cases and presenting the material in an interesting way. And, fortunately, she has maintained her lovely conversational style with frequent anecdotes, often involving investigators personally known to her.

“Once again, she has made a wonderful contribution to the White Crow Books library of timeless classics”.

~ Victor and Wendy Zammit, authors of A Lawyer Presents the Evidence for the Afterlife and ‘The Afterlife Report’.

“Lawyer Alan Murdie recently concluded on the basis of evidence recently published in the journal American Psychologist that 2018 could well be the year that parapsychological research was finally accepted by mainstream science. However, university research has been preoccupied with finding a so-called repeatable lab-experiment and as yet tells us virtually nothing about the true nature of psychic phenomena. For this the reader would need to turn to the cases presented so clearly and concisely by Tricia Robertson. Her book covers, along with her own experiences, the outstanding cases of classical phenomena with a particular emphasis on mediumship cases. Although I would differ as to the explanations of some of the cases, her last chapter summing up all the evidence is both daring and thought provoking. It should be read by anyone trying to make sense of psychic phenomena”.

"There is no religion higher than service. To heal the sick, to comfort the mourner, to guide the perplexed, to give strength to the weary and direction to those who have lost their way, those are the most important tasks of all … Never forget that the supreme purpose of life is the unfoldment of the spirit.”

Geraldine Cummins was born in Cork, Ireland to Professor Ashley Cummins, M.D.    As a young woman, she was an accomplished athlete and member of the Irish Women’s International Hockey Team.    She was also an active suffragette. After receiving a private education that focused on the arts, she began a career as a journalist and creative writer. By 1919, she had published three plays for the Abbey Theater and a novel on working-class Irish, The Land They Loved.   Cummins began working as a medium specializing in automatic writing after being encouraged by E.B. Gibbes, and Hester Dowden, a spiritualist who was known for having contacted the spirits of Oscar Wilde, William Shakespeare and other writers.   Cummins would sit at a table and cover her eyes with her left hand, leaving her right hand free to write. She said she would concentrate on the stillness.   “Soon I am in a condition of half-sleep, a kind of dream-state that yet, in its peculiar way, has more illumination than ones waking state.”   According to Gibbes, Cummins received messages through two spirit guides. Astor, who identified himself as Greek, was self-confident, arrogant, and anti-Christian.    His handwriting was “bold, firm and round.”   The other guide, Silenio, emerged several years later. He was a meek and mild individual who identified as a Christian.   His handwriting was finer and more slanted that that of Astor.   Cummins and Gibbes wrote several books based on her communications.      Her books included: The Scripts of Cleophas, an early Christian history, and Acts of the Apostles, communicated by the spirit of Cleophas, one of Paul’s followers. Gibbes books included: Evidence of Life from Beyond the Grave, based on her recorded seances and The Road to Immortality, which included messages from Frederick W.H. Myers after his death.     She allegedly worked as a British agent during WWII and used her psychic abilities to support the allied cause. In the 1940s and 50s she helped psychiatrists develop a model for using spiritualism to treat mental illness. Cummins “read” an object that belonged to the patient to identify childhood traumas or ancestor experiences that may have created the problem.       Cummins continued to write, publishing a biography of spiritualist Edith Somerville and The Fate of Colonel Fawcett in 1955.     Her last book was an account of her conversations with the spirit of Mrs. Willett (Winifred Coombe Tennant).      Cummins died in August of 1969.Additional Reading:Anderson, R. MacKenzie King was one of three children born in Berlin, Ontario to John King and Isabel Grace Mackenzie. His father was a lawyer, so King not only attended the Berlin schools, tutors were hired to teach him additional politics, science, and math.  At the University of Toronto, he earned three degrees in the 1890s. In 1896 he earned his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School. King was appointed Deputy Minister at the head of the Canadian government’s Department of Labour in 1900. He was first elected to Parliament in a 1908 and appointed as the first-ever Minister of Labour the following year.  He served as the Prime Minister for three non-consecutive terms from 1921–1926, 1926–1930 and 1935–1948. King’s mother, brother Macdougall King, and favorite sister Isabel, all died within a few years of each other. His guilt over leaving his mother to pursue his 1917 election campaign in North York, and finding her dead when he returned, may have sparked his interest in communing with the deceased.King was never a member of the Spiritualist Church and remained a Presbyterian. He was introduced to spiritualism by the Marchioness of Aberdeen. Lady Aberdeen told him of Mrs. Etta Wriedt, an American “direct-voice” medium who was well known and respected. During seances, he communicated with his mother, his brother and sister, and such friends as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Sir Wilfrid Laurier. Most of King’s contacts with mediums in Britain were made through Miss Mercy Phillimore, secretary of the London Spiritualist Alliance. She said “Mr. King was an investigator. He did accept the spirit hypothesis and he had the courage to say so, but he never ceased to be critical in appraising evidence. He was a highly intelligent man with shrewd judgment, and to say he consulted mediums for advice in statecraft is preposterous. It is also outrageous, an insult to his memory.”Mrs. Helen Hughes, a Glasgow medium  who sat with Mr. King for many years, said, “It was as if he had his mother living over here in Britain—what would any son do, if he came here on business? He’d look her up; he’d want to see her and talk to her. He didn’t want her advice about public affairs, for he knew more about them than she did. He wanted to know how she was…and wanted to talk to her about family matters.”On January 20, 1948, King called on the Liberal Party to hold its national convention to choose St. Laurent as the new leader of the Liberal Party. Three months later, King retired after 22 years as prime minister. In October of that year, he grew ill in London and was visited by King George VI, Winston Churchill, and Prime Minister Nehru of India. King died in 1950, at his country estate in Kingsmere from pneumonia.

  14. In her 2017 book, Surviving Death: A Journalist Investigates Evidence of an Afterlife, Leslie Kean presents compelling research on survival of consciousness along with her own unexpected personal experiences that occurred during her investigation.  “I witnessed some unbelievable things that are not supposed to be possible in our material world,” she states in the Introduction. “Yet they were unavoidably and undeniably real.”  She discusses cases suggesting reincarnation, near-death experiences, mental mediumship, physical mediumship, after-death communications, and responsive apparitions.

A resident of New York City, Kean (below) is an independent investigative journalist who co-authored a series of game-changing stories on UFOs for the New York Times beginning in 2017. She is the author of UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, a New York Times bestseller. Surviving Death received he Parapsychological Association book award and is the basis for a six-part documentary series to air within a few months on a major streaming network.

    Leslie Keen

In my blog of October 12, I referred to the fact that Kean provided an Epilogue to physical medium Stewart Alexander’s 2020 book An Extraordinary Journey, in which she describes her five-year investigation into Alexander’s mediumship.  The first edition of Stewart’s book in 2014 “opened a door to a wondrous and unexplored new world,” she wrote in the Epilogue, like nothing she had ever encountered before. It was that book, now revised and updated, that inspired her to contact Alexander.  Then, years later, in 2017, Stewart wrote the final chapter to Kean’s Surviving Death

I recently had the opportunity to put some questions to Leslie Kean by email.

As a journalist who has covered all manner of topics and then focused on serious reporting on UFOs for over a decade, what was your motivation behind pursuing a study of a possible afterlife, which many would consider a “fringe” topic?

I’m interested in large mysteries, unexplained by science, which are well documented and therefore undeniable. They expand our sense of who we are and our place in the universe. I don’t consider this topic to be “fringe”—it is simply difficult to study, often misunderstood, and can’t offer “proof”, although I believe we have solid evidence that consciousness is not limited to the physical brain. Nonetheless, many scientists don’t accept the reality of phenomena that challenge their understanding of the laws of physics or belief in physicalism. And, gullible people often make sensational claims based on assumptions and not scientific evidence. But, if one is motivated by deep curiosity and has a discriminating mind, I believe this topic is worthy of serious attention given the potential it has to redefine our understanding of the nature of consciousness, and of the meaning of death itself. And, it can be studied with the same rigor and discrimination as any other area of investigation, but of course with its own unique challenges.

You reported observing some very mind-boggling phenomena in your investigation of Stewart Alexander, including ectoplasm materializing into a “living” hand, the levitation of objects, and independent voice. You also witnessed communications from loved ones and successful book tests. Is there any doubt in your mind today that these phenomena were genuine and not some kind of magic trick?

I have absolutely no doubt, not one iota. I did my due diligence. When I began sitting with Stewart’s small circle in 2015, I thoroughly checked the seance room to make sure there was no way to sneak in or out, nothing hidden in the room, and nothing strange about Stewart’s chair or seance room table. I brought my own cable ties which were pulled tightly around his bare wrists, the thinnest part of his arm, locking his wrists through a loop under his chair arms. The straps could only be removed with wire cutters.

Stewart also wore luminous pads taped to each knee, so everyone in the room could always see where he was when it was dark. The door was locked during the seance. There was no background music throughout the sitting. Every movement was detectable in the quiet of the small room. And some phenomena occur in the light. I have sat with Stewart in four locations with different sitters, and the phenomena always occurred. Also, I have interviewed him and his Circle members and come to know them well.

What about Stewart’s long history as a physical medium?

Stewart demonstrated his unusual abilities over many years with a variety of elaborate physical restraints, visible knee markers, and with his hands held on both sides. His mediumship was scrutinized by many astute investigators in multiple locations in different countries, always in spaces under the complete control of others. Hundreds of people have attended sittings with him over the decades. No major controversies or claims of fraud have been made concerning Stewart’s mediumship in the past forty years. That’s because there isn’t any.

Stewart’s mediumship took decades to develop. He had tremendous patience, sitting devotedly with the same small circle year after year. That really impressed me - there was nothing flashy about Stewart’s mediumship nor any desire on his part to attract attention. He eventually offered guest sittings simply so that more people could have the experience. Yet he always kept his mediumship private, entirely separate from his personal and professional life; even his two adult sons knew nothing about it until the first edition of An Extraordinary Journey was published in 2010.

Of all that you witnessed or reported on in your book, what was the most convincing to you?

Well, certainly Stewart’s physical mediumship is at the top of the list. I was also impacted by two readings I had with outstanding mental mediums - one American and one Irish - in which the same things occurred despite the fact that these two mediums did not know each other. They also did not know my name. Two loved ones came through for me, behaved the same way indicative of their contrasting personalities, and gave the same personal message to me in each reading, word for word. The evidential information was spectacular in its specificity.

In terms of scientific research, the mediumship Franek of Kluski and Indridi Indridason were notable (I recommend the books Other Realities? and Indridi Indridason published by White Crow). Cases of very young children providing verifiable memories from a past life, complete with emotion and unexplained knowledge from their careers in that life, provide strong evidence for reincarnation, as documented by the University of Virginia in the US. Near death experiences also represent an intriguing body of research. And, my personal after-death communications from my younger brother who died in 2013 were very convincing to me, as I describe in my book.

Have you witnessed anything of interest since completing the book that might add to your views?

In May, 2019, I experienced a full form materialization in a seance with Stewart. His communicator Dr. Barnett, who normally speaks in independent voice, walked out of the cabinet, stood in front of me and touched my hair. He then placed both his large hands on top of my head, bouncing them up and down for about a minute and a half. (That’s a long time). These were solid “living” hands. He spoke in his recognizable voice. “I just wanted to let you know that I am a solid human being,” he said. He then returned to the cabinet and disappeared.

My comment on this otherworldly, mind-altering experience is best taken from what I wrote in Stewart’s Epilogue:

The mind can barely grasp the fantastical nature of a human form emerging from ectoplasm, walking, talking, touching, and then receding back to from where he came.  And where is that? Dr. Barnett says he once lived on this earth. Is this materialization proof that we survive physical death? Or does it mean something else? I don’t think we can answer that question with any degree of certainty. But this experience will live with me forever.

In the first months of 2020, I got one of the best surprises of my life. (I had previously been told by Stewart’s communicators that something would occur in my home.)  A clear hand print appeared on the inside of my bedroom window - five fingers and a thumb - in the frost which had accumulated during the cold night. And, a few months later, a second hand print appeared on another window in the same room. I had just cleaned this window about a week before, and no one had been in the room. And while in isolation during the pandemic, a third print appeared on the front of my refrigerator! None of these could have been made by me or anyone else. The window prints remain on the window to this day - they just need frost or steam to be seen.

None of these things really add to my views or prove survival. They are just wondrous reminders of the unexplained world which we understand so little about.

How have the five years you have been sitting with Stewart changed the way you relate to the experience?

Early on, as a probing journalist on a quest for answers, I was always looking for further “proof”; designing potential experiments in my mind; hoping to find new ways to document the phenomena; and asking endless questions. Now, after all these years, I’ve come to respect how difficult it is for any of these manifestations to be produced in the first place; the fact that they happen at all is extraordinary enough. I’ve grown to be less demanding of classic, “scientific” evidence, and recognize that there are no answers for many of my questions. So, it’s like a letting go into the mystery while at the same time remaining objective and observant. The mind state of the medium, combined with the energies of the sitters, make all the difference in terms of a successful seance; this is not something that can be easily studied in a laboratory.

Do you think ‘absolute certainty’ on this matter is possible or is even a good thing?

No, I don’t think we can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that we survive death. As a journalist (not a scientist), I’m looking rationally at the most compelling and reliable data, and presenting it in an accessible form so that readers can make up their own minds. For me, this is an ongoing journey, an exploration, a journalistic and personal foray into unchartered waters. Proof of any kind of afterlife is not the goal. However, the unusual phenomena described in my book actually do exist—this has been proven time and time again in published papers and through observation under controlled conditions. We cannot explain what the causative forces are or what they mean. I think the state of uncertainty - of never knowing and simply dwelling in the unknown - is a good thing.

What message would you like to convey to the skeptics in regards to the evidence for survival?

I was a skeptic too when I started this investigation, as were many of the leading scientists, philosophers, and seasoned investigators who pursued this topic over the last one hundred and fifty years. They set out to disprove the existence of mysterious phenomena they thought could not possibly be real. Using the strictest controls to test physical mediums and eliminate any possibility of fraud, eventually these investigators had no choice but to acknowledge the reality of the unexplained phenomena, which included materializations. And now, today, I have witnessed the same thing they did, and I too know it is real. How many skeptics with dismissive opinions have actually studied the literature? Moreover, how many of today’s skeptics have actually sat in controlled conditions with genuine mediums to observe events that challenge a materialistic view of reality? Yes, there have been many frauds, but it’s the genuine mediums that are of interest. They are rare, but they do exist, as the literature shows.

I suggest that skeptics read An Extraordinary Journey for starters, with an open, objective mind. We must remember that it’s the interpretation of the phenomena—including the question of whether they suggest survival past death—which is open for debate, and not the existence of the phenomena themselves. Yet, many skeptics still hold on to the premise “It can’t be, therefore it isn’t”. The intelligent skeptic should have enough curiosity to welcome challenging data that points toward mysteries of Nature still to be understood by science. This is how we progress!

COMMENTARY: THE EVIDENCE FOR THE AFTERLIFE IS NOT JUST ANECDOTAL There are still uninformed materialists who claim that any evidence for the afterlife is 'just anecdotal'.

Anecdotal evidence is based on hearsay, rather than hard facts. It is based on individual personal accounts, often by unnamed people, and is not written down. It certainly does not refer to controlled experiments and systematic observation by trained professionals written up in scientific journals (see for example Beischel, J. (2007) "Contemporary methods used in laboratory-based mediumship research". Journal of Parapsychology, 71, 37-68.)

Evidence for the afterlife has been systematically collected and documented by scientifically trained witnesses for more than 150 years, written up and reported in respected journals. There are repeated accounts of the same phenomena occurring over time and space, often with formal reports and statements signed by witnesses.

So, please, let us have INFORMED critics. As a retired attorney, I consider myself to have specialized expertise in the admissibility of evidence. Taken as a whole the evidence for the afterlife is overwhelming - and no genius materialist has been able to empirically disprove any of the twenty areas of afterlife evidence.

QUESTION: WHERE IS THE AFTERLIFE? Is it up in space or on another planet? Jerry S.

Victor: Traditional religious books imply that the afterlife is up in the sky somewhere - especially when they tell us that 'Jesus ascended into heaven'. But we now know that https://www.victorzammit.com/images/tuningradio.jpgthe afterlife is right here where we are. It's just on a different frequency. When people talk about "ascending" they really mean moving to a higher vibrational frequency. When you die, it's just as if you are now tuned into a different radio or tv station. Our loved ones are not separate from us - they are where we are. And by focusing, they can lower their vibrations to earth level and tune into what we are doing.
And conversely we can raise our vibrations and connect with them.

THE 'PARADISE' OF THE SUICIDE BOMBER
Jurgen wanted to see what happened to suicide bombers in the afterlife. According to the religious text of Islam, male martyrs will receive 72 virgin maidens in paradise as a reward for their sacrifice.
What he found shocked him to the core.

https://www.victorzammit.com/images/Vistas.jpgInstead of being in paradise the 'martyrs' found themselves in a wasteland surrounded by thought forms of their victims and representations of their pain. Read extract from Vistas of Infinity.
A spirit helper working there told Jurgen: "But at least you must return and warn and report about this misery you have seen here in order to save people from their folly. Every person in the world must know that God is mercy and love and nothing must be stronger than Love. Unless people know the truth then many more will have his fate".

NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION WITH MARSHALL ROSENBERG Marshall Rosenberg, PhD effectively mediated conflicts throughout the world for more than 40 years. His method, Nonviolent Communication, brought together warring factions as diverse as Irish Catholics and Protestants, Rwandan Hutus and Tutsis, Israelis and Palestinians as well as families and communities in conflict. His method was simply to enable both parties in conflict to listen with empathy to the authentic feelings and needs of the "other" without the need to blame and judge. Things can change when we feel respected and heard as humans.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF YOUR LIFE? https://www.victorzammit.com/images/life_with_purpose.jpgDirectly from an afterlife intelligence.
"Your purpose in life is to grow in character. It is not to doggedly pursue that which your society says is your own self-interest, such as amassing wealth, building a "healthy" retirement, traveling at length or otherwise indulging in purely selfish pursuits. Your purpose, I say again, is to grow in character. This is done by focusing not on yourself, but on those around you. It is ironic, but by attending to all those people of your acquaintance, by giving of yourself to these people and to your family, only then do you truly find yourself and establish your own firm identity." (Beyond The Veil, Judy Laddon p.67).

IT'S JUST A RIDE - HELPFUL TO REMEMBER AT THIS CRAZY TIME Bill Hicks (1961-1994) was an American stand-up comedian, writer, social critic, satirist, and musician. He rejected his family's Southern Baptist religious beliefs and instead explored transcendental meditation, psychedelics and alternative spirituality.

One of his famous lines was "Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration—that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves". This is one of his best monologues.

  17. Our INIT group (1995-2000) received a contact from a group of seven ethereal beings in the fall of 1996. It arrived through the telephone answering device of our Luxembourg members, Maggy Fischbach and Jules Harsch. Most of the Luxembourg ITC contacts were arriving in German, but that one was in English. Here’s how the message began:

    https://macyafterlife.files.wordpress.com/2020/11/35a-eb-inthecourse-youmustnotimagine.mp3

In the course of bygone decades, of thousands of earthly years, beings interested in human species meet to decide on the continuation of The Project. You must not imagine that only The Seven implicated in the actual development of INIT are there; no, it is a coming-together of all entities interested in mankind. The interests are various…. (Here’s the message in its entirety… )

So… what exactly is that “Project,” and who are all those entities who’ve been interested in mankind for thousands of earthly years? I’ve become increasingly certain that the “entities interested in mankind” are not just those we think of as spirits and angels (ethereal beings), but also those we think of as “extraterrestrials” or ETs. This article tries to put ETs into context of the bigger picture of the omniverse… or what we sometimes think of as “the afterlife.” Along the way we’ll see if we can figure out what “The Project” really is.

    What Are Extraterrestrials?

https://macyafterlife.files.wordpress.com/2020/11/35b-galaxies.png?w=769 Top photo: “The Sun and our solar system in relation to the Milky Way galaxy. The white circle indicates the area where the majority of exoplanets have been found with current telescopes. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/T. Pyle.”

    (Both images courtesy of NASA.)

Extraterrestrials are quasi-physical beings who live “in and around” our material universe, especially our galaxy. They can adjust their vibration to move to nearby dimensions or parallel universes that are superimposed over our own universe. That’s why, if we happen to see a UFO, it might appear as a ghostly shimmering object or a pulsing ball of light rather than something solid. Or it might suddenly vanish or streak over the horizon at mach 10. ETs are not confined to our material dimension with our laws of physics and our sense of time and space. (More about that in a moment.)

While there’s a lot of fascinating ET research underway, we’ll try to get a good representative sampling with the work of Dr Steven Greer, Paul Hamden, William Treurniet, Darryl Anka, and Stan Romanek.

According to them, here are some basic facts we should know about extraterrestrials:

(Please bear in mind that my chief interest for the past 30 years has been the information that we’ve received from spiritual sources, especially through ITC—the use of technology to get in touch with spiritual beings. ETs are physical beings like us, but they’ve developed a much finer connection than we have to spirit as well as to each other. Some ETs are even learning how to modulate their physical bodies to a finer vibration in order to move between the physical and spiritual realms. So I’ve gathered up the following points from people who know a lot more about ETs than I do. I believe those five experts are in general agreement on these points.)

    • Many trillions of extraterrestrials flourish in our Milky Way galaxy.
    • They each belong to one of several races or species of highly intelligent ETs, and some of them are interested in mankind here on Earth.
    • Though some of those ET races have home planets located in various star systems in the galaxy—some beyond the view of our telescopes—most of their “cities” are in large ships, so each race is really spread among various star systems in the galaxy. They’re galactic or interstellar races, whereas we humans are a planetary race… but that could change someday.
    • There are other small planetary races like ours in the galaxy that the galactic races are interested in, but they consider us on Earth to be kind of a special case, as we’ll see in a moment.
    • The members within a galactic race are all connected to each other mentally (like psychic cell phones in a big network), and some large races are also connected mentally to each other (like several big, compatible, overlapping cell networks), so they thrive in a mutually supportive, peaceful, friendly way for the most part. It’s a vast, resonant sea of brilliant life that flourishes in the galaxy in the form of extraterrestrial civilizations.
    • Nearly all of those galactic races that we’re aware of have the best interests of humanity and Planet Earth at heart. That’s true of races that originated on planets in Arcturus, Pleiades, Zeta Reticuli, Orion, Sirius, and some other star systems.
    • There are some minor exceptions. A few galactic races have been struggling a bit to survive and flourish. There are the Reptilians and what might be called the “lesser Zetas” or “abductor Zetas,” who seem to have a narrower, what’s-in-it-for-me agenda in their interest in humanity, but their influence on our world seems to be comparatively small. And the greater galactic civilizations (especially what could be called the “greater Zetas” or “refined Zetas”) generally intercede to try to undo any damage done to us humans by the lesser groups.
    • For many thousands of years (of our time) there’s been a lot of cross-breeding among galactic races—possibly as a way to help homogenize and unify the races—and yes, we humans have been (and still are) included in that cross-breeding. As a rule, when it involves people on Earth it’s done by permission from the individuals involved, even if the permission was given at a spiritual level and the participant isn’t consciously aware of his or her choice. (Again, there are a few exceptions, and we’ll explore the “abduction” scenario briefly through the experiences of one well-known abductee who’s included below as one of the experts.)
    • The vast majority of those galactic extraterrestrial races want to help us—in fact, they want us to join their galactic networks if and when we’re ready to join them. But for now they’re concerned about the less supportive, less peaceful, less friendly, less resonant way of life in our world… where living things kill and eat each other. Our dog-eat-dog life style is rare in the galaxy, and it stirs up lots of bad feelings—not just the, um, indigestion, but especially the fear, resentment, anger, deception, helplessness, aggression, and other dark energies and feelings that spin out of predatory living.*
    • Again, those galactic ETs resonate mentally, so they pick up on humanity’s dark thoughts, and they experience it as pollution. From their perspective, the bristling thought-energy from Earth is a minor disruption to the harmony of the galaxy.
    • The galactic races are working with each other to help raise life on Earth to a place of greater peace, oneness, and harmony. That’s the key to humanity becoming a galactic race one day: resonance and oneness-of-mind among its members.

*(Note: I believe that these advanced galactic races don’t have to eat or drink or excrete waste, nor do they reproduce in a way that a female of the species becomes pregnant. I’m not even sure if all of the galactic races have gender—male and female versions of themselves. I believe they’re nourished mostly by life-energy from the source, and those who produce children do so mostly with energy and consciousness (spiritual, as in reincarnation) and some genetic tinkering (as opposed to biological coupling)—maybe involving a couple or a scientific team or maybe with community involvement. I’ve found sources that seem to support that belief, but anything conclusive about the various races of ETs eating, drinking, excreting, and reproducing might have to wait for a future article, if and when I can gather more conclusive information on the subject.)

And that, I think, is the crux of “The Project”: Many trillions of spiritual and extraterrestrial beings have been exchanging ideas for many thousands of earthly years about the fate of humanity on Earth.

Can we humans overcome the dissonance that was planted in our world and in our biochemistry long, long ago? Can we achieve the mental harmony necessary to become a galactic civilization?

The experts below have ideas about how this might come about on a planetary scale, and then at the end of the article we’ll consider the need for inner peace at a personal level during this period of global discord… all signs pointing toward harmony within us, harmony within humanity, harmony with the galactic races, and harmony with the omniverse.

(Hm, I’ve noticed while writing this that these experts are all white males. If I write another ET article someday, I’ll try to include more diversified sources, for example, women who describe a loving presence that’s almost angelic while connecting mentally with Arcturians and Pleiadians and Sirians. After all, women seem to have a more refined vibration than men, as a rule. For example, few would argue that women are as generally aggressive and predatory as men are… but that’ll have to wait for a future article.)

    What the Experts Say

Last week I enjoyed a dream in which I was brought aboard a big galactic ship and met some of the crew. Most of them looked like ordinary adults around 30 years old. One fellow, who seemed to be in charge of a small team sitting before a large TV monitor on the wall, had a sense of humor. He swiveled around, smiled at me, and we joked about a few things that I don’t recall. A dog approached, and I bent down, nuzzled the top of its head, rubbed its neck, and felt an affection for it as though it were a family pet. Then I turned around and saw a woman who was in charge of another small crew doing maintenance on a smaller ship in the same big room. She acknowledged my presence with a nod then resumed her work. Then I woke up. It was not a profound or moving experience for me. It seemed, well, natural, as though I’d been invited there for a brief, friendly visit. But looking back on that short dream, I can only imagine the wonders that some ET researchers must experience over the years!

Here’s a brief overview of the research and experiences of a few key people who’ve been immersed in extraterrestrial understanding for many years. I’ll list them in alphabetical order of their first names. There are lots of fascinating articles, books, videos, and movies associated with their work, and I’ll provide links. If this article is of any interest to you, then you’ll probably relish their books and videos. Much of their information is mind-boggling, as it’s beyond our current science, but we’ll try to resolve all that by the end of the article. (I’ll sprinkle in a few of my own comments along the way, and put them in italic parentheses like this.)

Darryl Anka has been channeling information for some 30 years from the trillions of zeta-human hybrids called Essassanis who make up their Association of Worlds, which has spread through part of our galaxy. Their home planet—Essassani—is a semi-physical, semi-astral, paradise world in a star system some 300 light-years away, not yet noticed by our scientists through their telescopes. Only about 250 million Essassanis live on their home planet while the rest of them live in “cities” aboard massive ships that explore many planets. They’ve established supportive, live-and-let-live relationships with planetary races of many of those worlds. The Essassanis don’t have names associated with personalities—they’re all connected mentally in group consciousness throughout their vast network—but Anka has established a rapport with one particular Essassani fellow whom he calls Bashar (rhymes with guitar). Anka hosts seminars around the world in which he goes into a trance, connects mentally with Bashar, gives a brief greeting and message to the audience, then answers people’s questions about extraterrestrials, their lives and interests, and their interactions with us humans on Earth. While Anka is sharing the dialog vocally with his audience, Bashar is sharing it mentally with several thousand, or sometimes several hundreds of thousands of his Essassani friends. Apparently the mental rapport between Anka and Bashar was not easy to establish and sustain at first. Bashar said it was like trying to mesh a big, steady, slow-moving gear (the group-mind of a galactic or interstellar being) with a small, unsteady gear (the mind of a planetary being like a human on Earth). Unless the rapport was established with patience and care over a period of years, there was the risk of a mental breakdown. Here are some of the things Bashar has told us about his race and their activities:

    • It doesn’t take ETs 20 years or 20 lifetimes to travel to distant planets like ours. As they explain it, distance (or space) is an illusion that we humans on Earth seem to be trapped in during our short lifetimes. In the greater reality, travel just about anywhere can be instantaneous under the right conditions. The galactic ETs view location as a quality of a structure (the way spirit friends have told ITC researchers on Earth that they see time as a bodily substance).
    • So time as we experience it on Earth (like space or location) is also an illusion. The Essassanis can apparently hop around in time to some degree; they say they visit our world from what we would consider “the future.”
    • The Essassanis work openly with some planetary cultures, but they haven’t been able to make public appearances on Earth because the hostility and fear in our world prevent it. “Who wants to go into a war zone or into an asylum where everyone’s armed?” Anka/Bashar jokes at seminars. “The Earth is a war zone!”
    • Some governments, especially the USA, are very well aware of the Essassanis and other galactic races, but their interest is not to join the ETs, but to defend against them while protecting the general public from their presence. (Living things on Earth don’t trust each other because of the predatory nature of the planet, so we project our mistrust onto the ETs.) The only help our governments currently want from the galactic races is advanced technology to develop better weapon systems. The Essassanis and other galactic races refuse to cooperate in such madness, but there are a couple of those races who are struggling, as mentioned earlier, and they’re willing to trade a bit of their technology with Earth governments (in return for certain favors that we’ll discuss in a moment). That said, the technologies are all based on mental focus and resonance, or harmony, so they’re of limited use here on Earth at the present time. (The ETs already know that, and Earth governments are starting to figure it out too, leaving them in a sort of “catch-22” position with alien technology used for military purposes. Galactic technologies can only be used for peace and order, not for conflict and chaos—and not because of some sort of moral principle, but because of what might be called a law of galactic physics dealing with mental resonance.)
    • Essassanis and other galactic races view humans on Earth as exceptionally focused and adaptive, so that our technologies evolve much faster than the norm. At the same time, they think of us as “masters of limitation” because we’re mostly unaware of our multidimensional (spiritual) makeup and our innate capacity to transcend the limitations of three-dimensional (or what they call “third-density”) living in which we’ve been stuck for many thousands of years.
    • The only time Essassanis have come close to “arguing” with a planetary race is when they try to describe life on Earth. Other planetary races can’t believe our kind of mental limitation is possible. So there’s a lot of fascination with our world.
    • Though live-and-let-live is the rule among the galactic races when dealing with each other and with planetary races, the galactic races intercede on rare occasions when there’s a serious problem brewing on a planet. Last century they deactivated—“dampened electromagnetically”—all the launch mechanisms on our nuclear weapons. Governments, again, were well aware of that intervention, but they saw it as a show of force—a threat—rather than a protective measure. (Hence the silly “Star Wars” program in the USA.) Anka/Bashar explains that nuclear annihilation on Earth would “tear through the dimensional fabric of other space-time continuums” and jeopardize other civilizations that have nothing to do with Earth. That, aptly, is a galactic no-no.
    • The Essassanis see a likelihood of world unity in the near future. (The United Nations was probably the most important step in history toward world unity, but it hasn’t worked very well because of all the squabbling over national interests.) One solution, says Anka/Bashar, might involve be a “triumvirate” or friendship or close association that develops soon between the USA, Russia, and China. (The three governments will go about adopting planetary standards and values to ensure peace and stability, and then the rest of the world will fall into place. Sounds promising, but considering all of the religious, scientific, and political zeal and inherent human distrust it may not be easy to pull off. Bashar also predicted, in the 1990s, that humans on Earth could be ready to employ galactic spacecraft technology as early as 2017, and that humanity could be ready to join the Galactic Association of Worlds by 2027. Galactic races who take mental harmony for granted might underestimate the challenges posed by Earth’s predatory living conditions that we take for granted.)
    • Anka/Bashar acknowledges at various seminars that making predictions for a time-based continuum, especially the timeframe on Earth, is extremely difficult.
    • Halloween, or All Hallow’s Eve, traces back to the destruction of Atlantis, which occurred on what would have been on (or around) November 1 (a mid-autumn timeframe) some 12,000 years ago. Today’s social and political chaos traces back not just to bad choices made in Atlantis, but to a time long, long ago when “the planet Maldek (or Eden or Marduk) destroyed itself.” Earth societies today have many of the same technologies and feisty personalities (and, in some cases, the same sort of bullying political dominance) that Atlantis had on Earth when it was still thriving.
    • One of humanity’s biggest steps toward becoming a galactic race will be to finally realize that “OUR PRESENT IS NOT THE RESULT OF OUR PAST.” Everyone in the galactic races lives in the moment. Everyone’s part of collective mind that’s evolving. Everyone’s simply a part of that evolution. Everyone’s in harmony. That’s the way of life of a galactic being. (Being consumed by the past or the future serves no purpose, since time is an illusion.)
    • Bashar refers to it (advancing from a planetary to a galactic race) as an evolution from a “third-density world to a fourth-density world.” Density refers to the vibration of the planet, where third is a denser vibration and fourth is a subtler vibration. Everything everywhere has a “signature frequency,” and the signature frequency of a planet is determined largely by the collective consciousness of its inhabitants. A fourth-density planet the size of Earth would probably support a population of about 50 million people. In fourth-density the people would be in harmony—of one mind—and billions of them would (presumably) begin living aboard ships. (And many, of course, would simply leave the planet and “return home” to the spirit worlds.)
    • The five laws of creation everywhere are 1) you exist, 2) all is now, 3) all is one, 4) what you put out you get back, and 5) everything changes except these laws.
    • Finally, the most important thing people on Earth can do now to start lifting the vibration of themselves and their planet is simply to do the things in life that stir their excitement. (Not the hormonal excitement that come through sex and gambling and rollercoasters and mind-altering drugs and alcohol, but the soul-stirring kinds of excitement that give a lifetime meaning and purpose.)

Paul Hamden and William Treuniet are discussed together here. Paul Hamden’s work is similar to Darryl Anka’s work. He channels various galactic ET races, but especially the refined Zetas. William Treuniet is retired from a science career and now spends his time exploring other-worldly truths. He has meticulously interpreted much of the information coming through Paul Hamden. Here are a few key points they’ve gathered from the galactic races:

    • All galactic races share the goal of oneness within each race and among races, because “all energies come from one place, one source energy; they all long to be reunited with the ‘whole’.” (That is exactly the definition of basic human spirituality—an effort to establish and sustain a conscious connection to the source that creates and nourishes the entire omniverse with life-energy.) The galactic races flourish on harmony.
    • The galactic races have been concerned about the low-vibration thoughts leaking into the galaxy from Earth, disrupting the harmony. They experience it as a sort of mental pollution, which has gotten worse in recent decades as modern technologies amplify human fear, deception, hatred, and other dissonant vibrations. It could become a serious pollution problem, and efforts are underway to try to solve it… to nip it in the bud in a peaceful way.
    • One solution: an ET (Zeta or otherwise) and a human spirit can form a hybrid consciousness and incarnate on Earth for a lifetime. As millions of these pairings are made, millions of people are born on Earth with a finer, lighter state of being. These hybrid incarnations are always done with permission of both parents, and that permission is usually given at a spiritual level which the parents themselves might not consciously remember.
    • That project (a sort of galactic seeding or star-seeding project on Earth) can help raise the planetary vibration and move humanity toward 1) a resonant collective consciousness and 2) open two-way mental communication between humans and the galactic races. (Achieving that resonance would also enable instrumental transcommunication or ITC—that is, delivering information to Earth directly through equipment—to become a mainstream mode of earthly communication for both ETs and spirits.) At present, about 30 percent of Earth’s people have this combined ET-spiritual heritage, while the rest of us have the traditional spiritual lineage within us.
    • Another solution: Eight or ten Zetas can meet in a clear sphere or bubble of energy with a model of Earth between them. They can focus on our planet while holding us in their thought processes. They connect mentally to millions of human minds that also favor a collective consciousness of humanity. These group meditations help raise our planetary vibration. There might be dozens of those sessions going on at the same time, scattered along various points in or around our moon’s orbit. The ships are of a slightly finer vibration than our physical dimension, so that they’re imperceptible to us.
    • Despite these projects to uplift humanity, there are lingering problems to be solved both on Earth (which we’ll address at the end of the article) and among the ETs.
    • “Long ago the Zeta race split into two factions,” say Hamden and his Zeta friends. One vast, flourishing Zeta culture has been refining its high-vibration consciousness in order to become resonant with other galactic ET civilizations, with whom they collaborate on many projects, including the betterment of humanity and Planet Earth. A smaller, struggling Zeta race has been abducting certain humans to create biological hybrids (apparently with permission from some governments, in exchange for certain ET technologies). Hamden and Treurniet work only with the greater Zeta race that’s resonant with other galactic races and that tries to undo the damage done by the lesser Zetas.
    • Everything in the omnniverse has its own particular vibration of consciousness.
    • Members of the greater Zeta race sustain their high vibration with harmony and stillness, whereas they notice that the human vibration on Earth is raised by what we call love. When people act with love toward each other, they raise their vibration. The closest the Zetas come to experiencing our feeling of love is a sort of love-respect feeling they have for each other. They never harm each other, they feel a special affection for their children, and they never try to “teach” each other or interfere in each other’s learning process.
    • While humans on Earth slip easily into fear, deception, sadness, and anger, the Zetas say, simply, “Such emotions do not serve us.”
    • Humanity on Earth is evolving toward a resonant collective consciousness that’s following a predetermined course. The Zetas can see the likelihood of a major facilitating event that “will cause matter to become nonmatter”… (which might suggest a sort of end-time scenario, or spring-cleaning of the planet… or it could simply suggest that as we raise the vibration of the planet we ascend from a material universe to a spiritual one, which we consider at the end of the article).

Stan Romanek is among the best known and most credible (and at the same time most incredible) “abductees” in history… (and many human abductions by the lesser Zetas have been reported by many people across the years and around the world). Stan’s experiences, if true (and they’re certainly well documented), are amazing by any earthly measure. It’s largely his lifelong dyslexia that makes his accounts seem both credible and incredible. He says he was never very good at either grammar or math, and he often expresses himself with child-like awe, innocence, and bewilderment, so he’s not the kind of person we normally think of as “an expert.” However, his experiences have drawn the attention of various people who are considered experts—psychologists, scientists, investigators, and others. For those who’ve gotten to know Stan and his wife Lisa well, and have examined their experiences objectively, the consensus is that the couple’s claims about the ET interventions, and Stan’s ET abductions in particular, are true for the most part. Among his experiences:

    • Starting in 2000, Romanek began having frequent UFO encounters and capturing them on video. Sometimes they’d hover over his car and follow him home. The ETs seemed to have their eye on him and soon started dropping by his home uninvited, so he started photographing and video-recording them in his yard. On one occasion he set up a video camera in his kitchen and caught one of the fellows peeking in through the patio glass door. (See picture #6 in the collage.)
    • Strange, bright lights would be cast down on his house on some nights, and the following morning there might be a round, crop-circle-like pattern on his lawn, 4 or 5 feet in diameter. During one of those bright nights the siding along one side of the house was badly scorched. A work crew showed up the next day uninvited and did a complete repair to the house with no charges or explanations. When his landlord said he had no clue about the damage or the repair, Romanek figured the repairmen were probably sent by some sort of covert government agents who were aware of the ET activities, since he’d received warnings before (from officials in black SUVs) not to go public with his experiences.
    • Around that time, Romanek fell off a ladder next to his house and did serious damage to his leg. His doctor scheduled an operation and told Romanek that without surgery he’d almost certainly lose the use of the leg. The morning before the operation he woke up to find a small row of neat, circular incisions on his leg, and the injury had been completely healed. The surgery was canceled.
    • By then, Romanek had been abducted by the Zetas on numerous occasions. They would appear in his home in the early morning hours and put him into a trance, then he’d awaken aboard a spacecraft, lying on a table, sometimes in severe pain. With help from regression hypnotherapists, he came to remember lots of details from the abductions.
    • During some onboard sessions it was apparent to him that the ETs were conducting reproduction experiments on him. On one visit he was introduced to a small girl with immense, striking, almond-shaped eyes who seemed to exude wisdom and understanding far beyond her years. He felt a deep affection for the child staring up at him and knew she was his daughter—a Zeta-human hybrid. She started calling him Starseed with a strange mix of humor and affection.
    • “These guys are like super-intelligent children,” Romanek would tell audiences at conferences he attended. “They’ll find the most mundane thing and flip out over it, like a pair of glasses. My remote controls will disappear for weeks at a time, and then we’ll wake up some morning, and they’re all neatly lined up on our kitchen countertop.”
    • He says one night in 2003, he woke up in bed after being abducted and returned, and he was wearing a ladies flannel nightgown (apparently belonging to another abductee).
    • During some encounters the ETs would imprint a massive amount of information directly into his mind. On one occasion he was shown an unforgettable and rather terrifying apocalyptic scenario—searing winds across the Earth that leveled structures and ripped the asphalt off roads. On other occasions his mind would be branded with complex mathematical formulas.
    • Romanek could later close his eyes and write out some of the complex, graduate-level physics equations from memory. Physicists who read those equations (which looked like chicken scratchings to Romanek himself) said that some of them pertained to Einstein’s theory of relativity as it applies to gravity.
    • Stan and his wife Lisa received some phone calls—presumably from one of his (by then a half-dozen or more) ET-hybrid daughters. Each call was either left on the answering machine or else answered for a live conversation. In either case, the voice had a computer-like quality, (presumably because the ETs communicate mentally and it took some effort for them to impinge earth-like voices through earthly equipment; ITC researchers have learned that their spirit friends face the same challenges when trying to contact us through earthly technologies). The ET messages to the Romaneks were sometimes chastising in the way young girls often talk to each other or to their dolls, or the messages might be traced with humor, for example😞 “I know how stubborn you are, Starseed.” Or, “Now listen, Starseed, you know you are different. Follow your instincts and stay alert. This is too important. Soon it will all be revealed. And Starseed, do not be afraid of what you are.”
    • Romanek co-authored three books about his experiences—Messages (2009), Answers (2011), and The Orion Connection (2011). In Answers he shared lots of pictures of his hybrid children, and the book was mostly loved by readers: 84 percent of the reviews on Amazon gave the book either 4- or 5-out-of-5 stars.
    • In 2017 Romanek was charged with “felony possession of child pornography” and sentenced to two years in jail. Details surrounding the case are nearly as perplexing as Stan’s experiences themselves—initiated by Homeland Security, investigated by detectives known to get convictions in questionable ways, a wiped hard drive, evidence turning up on thumb drives, the fact that there’s no more effective way in the USA to ruin a man’s reputation and research than by accusing him of child abuse or child pornography…. (Read more about that tragic case… )
    • Since the conviction, Stan’s health has badly deteriorated.

Dr Steven Greer founded CSETI (Center for the Study of Extra-Terrestrial Life) in 1990, in which he and an international network of colleagues and supporters worked together to establish contact with ET civilizations. As a Transcendental Meditation teacher he knew that contact with ETs would probably require mental resonance and harmony, which became one of the cornerstones of CSETI. In 1993 he founded the Disclosure Project, an effort to urge governments to go public with the vast ET information they’d gathered over the years but were keeping secret, largely for “national security” reasons. From 1994 to 1998 Greer was an emergency room physician, then retired to devote the bulk of his attention to ET research. In 2001 he held a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC—along with 20 retired officials from the Air Force, the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), and the US intelligence community—who shared what they knew about ET activity in our world. They urged current government leaders to disclose to the public what they knew but had been hiding all these years. Among the many things that Greer has learned from and about the ETs is that they started taking a special interest in Earth in the 1940s, when we started exploding atom bombs on Earth. That got their attention, and so people suddenly began to see lots of UFOs in the sky and report them to the authorities. (All of those UFO sightings agitated the US government, especially the military. Fear was the motivating force to create the bombs in the first place, and fear became the natural reaction to the onslaught of UFO sightings. Uncle Sam was still skittish and reeling from all the death and destruction from the second world war, so he might have assumed that the UFOs were here to launch another sneak attack—a galactic version of Pearl Harbor. The idea that the UFOs were here to protect him and other governments from themselves might not have occurred to Uncle Sam.) In any case, various galactic ET civilizations sent delegates to Earth for discussions with government officials in the USA and other emerging nuclear powers. Those discussions were labeled Top Secret (probably because the governments still didn’t trust the ETs and their intentions… and still don’t today). Rather than go through all of Dr Greer’s findings over the years for this article, it seems more fitting to share what he’s learned about how we planetary humans might someday become an interstellar or galactic civilization. This is what he shared with the Institute of Noetic Sciences in California recently:

    • Step 0: A planetary civilization is self-destructive. An extinction-level event could result from interplanetary war (which would essentially destroy planetary life, or maybe add Earth’s shrapnel to the asteroid belt). A collective desire for planetary destruction among just 1 percent or humanity could get us there. The galactic races are busy behind the scenes trying to prevent this from happening, so that humanity can eventually move to step 2, at which point we’ll have to advance from thinking about international and intercultural peace to thinking about interstellar (or galactic) peace. But first there’s Step 1.
    • Step 1: Humanity becomes globally peaceful, at one with itself. At that point we can start using instant transport (discussed below) and other consciousness technologies to start transforming our world in a positive way. (We also begin to establish a conscious rapport with the galactic ET races at this point.)
    • Step 2: We become involved in pursuits of the sciences of consciousness—an interface between consciousness (mind) and the kinds of space-time-matter electronic devices that are in use today. We reach higher states of consciousness often called enlightenment, cosmic consciousness, or God-consciousness. (In other words, we learn to forge a conscious contact with the source, which is the crux of human spirituality). That becomes the central focus of the civilization. Why? It’ll provide unlimited abundance. Also, that’s when people can really get artistic and creative.
    • Step 3: We become interstellar. Once we humans are peaceful and transdimensional and connected to higher states of consciousness, then we get a sense of what’s really out there as a segment of our population begins living in space. And when we get too Step 3 isn’t a matter of time, but of “event horizons.” That’s what Greer has been training people to do with his “Close encounters of the fifth kind” project—help humanity reach its next event horizon, largely through mental resonance.
    • Step 4: More than 15 percent of people in the world have achieved cosmic consciousness. Humans are now in contact with senior ambassadors of the galactic races who offer advanced guidance to emerging civilizations. They’ve been working with us on Earth for many thousands of years from behind the scenes, but now at step 4 there’s active collaboration.
    • Step 5: Everyone on Earth is now born into cosmic consciousness. Teleportation and bilocation become a way of life for everyone, and our own consciousness becomes the guiding force within our technologies (including ITC technologies for two-way communication with ETs through our devices).

(At this point, presumably, we begin to cross the threshold from a physical world to a quasi-spiritual world, and eventually become a spiritual world.)

In steps 5-7 we join the interstellar council collective that’s been operating since time immemorial. Greer says that in recent years his group contacts are being cleared through that collective.

    • Step 6: At least 1 percent of the people on Earth are in coherent god-consciousness. Through them Earth becomes a highly refined physical world living under astral (paradise) conditions.
    • Step 7: God consciousness becomes a way of life for everyone from birth—a state of celestial perception. We can then manifest things and dematerialize by focused intent.
    • Step 8: At this point at least 1 percent of the people perceive through unbounded mind, where cities, spacecraft, and entire worlds can appear with a thought. Physical worlds evolve into light beings and light ships while everyone’s at high states of consciousness.
    • Step 9: Everyone’s in perfect unity consciousness—not just oneness within and without—but we can now experience the whole of cosmic creation.
    • Step 10: Everyone is in Brahman consciousness or God consciousness. (Essentially we’ve returned to the source.)

    Extraterrestrials in Perspective

Based on what the ETs have told us, moving instantly from one location to another in the universe and traveling through time become possible once we understand (and adapt to) the superimposed nature of the omniverse, in which many universes are nested within each other.

Time and space are an illusion. In reality, everything exists in the same space at the same time. It remains distinct from everything else in the omniverse by its vibration—not by what we perceive as its “location” or by its place in the “past” or “future.” That’s not an easy situation for us humans to grasp because of what the ETs call “limitations” that we imposed on ourselves long ago. Apparently the limitations are the result of being locked into the illusion of time and space.

Here’s a diagram that helps to put things into better perspective.image.png.10aaa1c074e776a5051ff14a0a778909.png

The source emits a life-energy that creates and nourishes everything throughout the omniverse. The most important and intimate part of every individual thing everywhere is its own connection to the source.

Everything in our material universe—every galaxy, every planet, every person, every extraterrestrial being…—has copies of itself extending into finer “parallel” universes (represented by the white circles). Every universe and everything in it remains distinct by its unique vibration.

To get a sense of the number of those universes, imagine that each circle represents dozens of white circles.

To get a sense of the “parallel” nature of the universes, imagine shrinking the picture down until everything is superimposed into a single pinpoint, then expanding the picture back out in its superimposed state. Not an easy thing to visualize, but it gives an idea of what things might look like to an extraterrestrial, or to a spirit, or any other being that can perceive multiple dimensions or universes.

The countless universes between Earth and the source can be arbitrarily divided into seven levels. We humans on Earth live in a physical universe at level 1. UFOs can move among various physical universes at level 1, and presumably into quasi-physical universes around level 2.

ETs probably have a similar spiritual composition to ours—various “spirit bodies” within us that get ever finer as they approach the source. The source itself becomes the “soul” of everything, and it rests in perfect harmony at the center of our being, like a divine crystal oscillator. So, by the nature of our being, we are one with the entire omniverse.

(Earth’s spiritual “shadow” is where most of planet’s dark, predatory impulses get trapped, and they can apparently leak out into the galaxy to unsettle the prevailing harmony—a cause for concern among ETs. But the shadow, hypothetically, will quickly disappear once we take what Steven Greer calls the first two steps toward cosmic consciousness.)

  18. Many societies today are churning… coming apart… dividing sharply into opposing camps. Americans have watched it happen here in the States early in the 21st century—left-wing Democrats vs right-wing Republicans—but it’s also happening in Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Poland, Turkey, and other countries. International scholars recently found some common factors that seem to be fracturing society—getting people more and more riled up.

Beneath all that divisiveness I think there might a more elemental force at work, which we’ll explore in a moment. But first…

    Divisive Social and Political Trends

(This information comes from Carnegie Endowment organization.)

As societies break apart into opposing camps that find each other repugnant, certain conditions seem to aggravate the bitterness. There are:

    • Leaders who incite hatred, intolerance, violence, and lies,
    • Media that use modern technologies to fan those toxic embers,
    • Growing economies that allow or encourage a widening gap between rich and poor, and
    • Cronyism and corruption (a sort of hyena-pack leadership) that might get everyone excited for a while, but ultimately makes the public sick of politics as society divides ever more sharply.

Meanwhile the polarization spreads through the government (e.g. courts and legislatures) and finally “reverberates throughout the society as a whole, poisoning everyday interactions and relationships.”

The important question is: Do these things cause a society to come apart at the seams, or are they all just symptoms of a more underlying condition that really causes people to split up into opposing groups?

    An Underlying Cause of Polarization?

(Some of this information comes from a recent article on this site about the End Time.)

I think there are spiritual crosscurrents moving powerfully around and through the Earth, clashing with each other and spreading toxic emotional fallout that passes through human minds. And that’s what might be causing social cohesion to break down and burst lately in families, communities, and nations, and throughout world affairs. While those spiritual crosscurrents are always present in our world, causing unrest, they seem to be getting more severe lately as riots, rebellion, gross immorality, and mass destruction break out all around the world.

So, yes, I believe that spiritual forces are behind the unrest, and I base it on:

    1. a message our INIT group received from ethereal beings in 1996 regarding an approaching “End Time,” and
    2. what I’ve been learning since then about:
      • the source and its life-energy that creates and nourishes all universes, and
      • the shadow of toxic spiritual residue that’s been forming around our world across the centuries.

    An End Time Forewarning

In 1996 the Seven Ethereals told our INIT group:

We have often given you the real purpose of ITC contacts: Mankind at the End Time should be led back to the principle. Light and darkness shall unite and form a whole again. What people experience now is not the actual beginning of the apocalypse, but only the first symptoms.

(That ITC [instrumental transcommunication] contact was delivered through a computer at our main receiving station in Luxembourg.)

When I first saw that contact, I wondered, What? Light and darkness shall reunite? Why? If mankind has a “dark” side, why not just excise it like a tumor and throw it away? Why not just restore humanity and Planet Earth to the “light?”

    The Source and the Shadow

    https://macyafterlife.files.wordpress.com/2020/09/33a-omnipurple-little.png?w=307&h=293

As rich, radiant life-energy is deflected by Earth’s brutal, predatory nature, a spiritual shadow is cast round the planet, in which life-energy is in short supply.

Those questions stewed in the back of my mind for 20 years, until I began to understand life-energy and Earth’s shadow.

    • Life-energy from the source nourishes the entire omniverse with vitality, love, joy, knowledge, morals, and other noble forces.
    • Earth’s brutal nature deflects some of that light from the source, casting a spiritual shadow around the planet that’s deficient in life-energy, resulting in weariness, hate, despair, ignorance, depravity, and other savage forces that echo and swell like an invisible storm cloud. (Read more… )

    https://macyafterlife.files.wordpress.com/2020/09/33b-yarntangle.jpg?w=274&h=271

These positive and negative forces tug constantly on humanity, but they’re not like oil and water, which can easily be separated. They’re more like many long strands of fine, light yarn and course, dark yarn that get hopelessly entangled.

And that’s what life on Earth has become over the past tens of thousands of years—love, generosity, and kindness all tangled up with hate, selfishness, and malice.

That’s why finer beings who monitor and influence our world can’t just cut out the darkness and throw it away. It’s impossible to untangle the light and dark spiritual “yarns” here on Earth, which is apparently why an “end time” occurs periodically (thousands of years apart) in order to give our planet a sort of spring cleaning. Collapse of the old gives humanity a chance to evolve into something new and better.

God only knows how that planetary purge actually works, but I suspect it might happen something like this:

    • Finer spiritual beings from levels 5 through 7 start directing a lot of life-energy into our world in order to enhance humanity’s love, happiness, and truth.
    • That causes of sort of bristling in Earth’s shadow, stirring up the latent hatred, anger, and deception that’s been trapped around the planet.
    • All of these mixed feelings filter into human minds, influencing different people in different ways:
      • At one extreme are those who resonate with the life-energy. They’re inspired to solve the problems of society and the world. They want wise, benevolent leaders who can ease the pain and suffering going on around them while devising fair, sustainable societies. Just make the world a better place!
      • At the other extreme are those who bristle with the shadow. Agitated by the crime and conflict and immorality going on around them, they want strong leaders to take charge, whether by hook or by crook, to impose law and order and punishment. Just make the world a better place!
      • Most people are in the middle of those two extremes, feeling both light and dark influences in their lives, but in divisive times like these they may feel pulled rather strongly in one direction or the other.

So when the ethereal beings observe our troubled little planet and say, Light and darkness shall unite and form a whole again, this intense discord that we’re witnessing today is apparently how that process feels as we get caught up in the mounting drama. Everyone around us is either a potential ally or a potential adversary, depending on their political views.

Some people relish the drama and stimulation that come from divisiveness. Their competitive or predatory or parasitic qualities might help them excel at pursuits involving money, power, and other such worldly pleasures, but their unworldly pursuits are liable to have negative results until they can deal with their dark, symbiotic compulsions.

Other people prefer a peaceful life with less drama and more positive spiritual rewards, so the following conclusion is mostly for them.

    Silencing the Drama

While we can’t heal society’s divisions overnight and make everyone suddenly like each other, I believe we can soften the drama in our own life—in our own mind—simply by understanding the general scenario described in this article, which is:

Essentially, we’re all influenced by the spiritual forces around us.

    • The main force (life-energy from the source) promotes peace and order throughout the omniverse (what the ethereal beings referred to as “light”).
    • Other forces emerge from Earth’s shadow to stir up conflict and chaos in our little world (what they referred to as “darkness”).

With that knowledge we can then buffer ourselves against shadow influences and their dramas. As explained in the previous article, we simply:

    1. Acknowledge the source as the only thing that’s “real,”
    2. Know that our sensory impressions of Earth with its dramas are largely illusions that we experience for just a short lifetime, and
    3. Use techniques like meditation to foster a conscious contact with the source.

The more we adapt those three steps into our life, the more peace and happiness we’ll enjoy from day to day as the dramas going on around us have less and less impact. Once we choose the lighter spiritual path, we’ll be compelled to contribute to the positive evolution of the planet and mankind.

Then, after our brief lifetime, we leave the Earth behind and “go home” to paradise, closer to the source, with some incredible memories.

Last week's report and all previous reports

https://www.victorzammit.com/images/vicrussiasm7.jpgCOMMENTARY: THE GIFT OF NDES TO THE WORLD Kevin Williams is the webmaster of several near-death experience sites. On his website near-death.com he explains how studying many thousands of near-death experiences has had a profound effect on him.
http://www.victorzammit.com/images/kevin-williams-2018.jpgHe writes: "I am convinced NDE research is contributing greatly to the spiritual evolution of humanity and that there is no greater endeavor than planting seeds of love within other human beings. Love is literally what life, the afterlife, and God is all about.

Paradoxically, learning about death and loss is also learning about love. Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder; and dealing with the loss of loved ones is one of the greatest lessons of life. Love conquers and transcends death. So in this respect, death itself is the "grand illusion". Death is nothing but a "body problem" as one NDEr so eloquently put it."

He concludes: "The light of love revealed from millions of NDEs is being poured out upon this world of great darkness starving for light. This tremendous influx of light from NDEs is bringing a new understanding of life, death, and what happens afterward. It will ultimately lead to the great spiritual revolution and unity of all humanity foretold by many religions, NDEs, and psychic revelations. It will be the "golden age" of paradise and global peace realized on Earth." Read more.

PREVIEW OF THE IANDS ONLINE CONFERENCE The International Association for Near-Death Experiences (IANDS) was founded in the US in 1981. It does wonderful work to support and assist death experiencers (NDErs) and people close to them. Below are clips of some of the inspiring speakers at IANDS 2020 Live Online Conference, Aug 14-16. NDE: There's no such thing as death.

WHAT NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES TEACH US ABOUT PREJUDICE "Creed, race, gender, and sexual preference have no real meaning to God. No matter who we are, we were all children joined under one God. The only rule is God's true law 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' ".
    P.M.H. Atwater

"Those religions which claim superiority over others, or exclude people for various reasons, go against God's law that we love one another as we love ourselves". Sandra Rogers

https://www.victorzammit.com/images/loveismyreligion.jpg"It also needs to be recognized that not all teachings described as religious are beneficial. Religion which is judgmental, prejudicial, critical, and narrow may impede the spirit's natural growth. It is love, not religion, which creates spiritual growth. Where religion teaches love, there is growth. Where religion impedes love, there is stagnation". Nora Spurgin

    HOW OLD IS PSYCHICAL RESEARCH?
Many people think the beginnings of the spiritualist movement occurred at Hydesville in New York State in the 19th century, but psychic investigation is much, much older than that. AFTER-DEATH COMMUNICATION
http://www.victorzammit.com/images/elisabethtarg.jpgDr. Elisabeth Targ, daughter of Dr. Russell Targ, was a brilliant doctor and researcher into spiritual healing. She died in 2002 from a brain tumor at the age of 42. After her death, her co-researcher, Dr. Jane Katra, received more than 35 unexpected communications from her. They started a few hours after her transition. She appeared to Dr. Katra at least 10 miles away from the house where her body lay. In the weeks that followed, lights flashed when people talked about her. A woman wrote down nonsense syllables dictated from Elisabeth in a dream visit that turned out to be a message in Russian ( a language that Elisabeth spoke well). Read more. On her website, Dr. Katra has details of another surprising communication from Elisabeth that shows she is still a healer. Read more.

PHYSICIST CONVINCED DAUGHTER SURVIVED DEATH Dr. Russell Targ, a laser physicist, cofounded the remote viewing research program at SRI International. He tells Jeffrey Mishlove that it was one particular message that finally convinced him of the reality of his daughter Elizabeth's post-mortem survival.

DO WE LOSE OUR INDIVIDUALITY IN THE HIGHER REALMS? "As we progress into those https://www.victorzammit.com/images/hughbenson30.jpghigh realms, we shall not lose our individuality in supposed etheric clouds and become lost to everyone except the dwellers therein. We shall ever continue to be ourselves, our TRUE selves; refined, to be sure, more etherealised, but still, YOU will be YOU, and I shall be I no one else. You and I will recognise each other, just as you will recognise all your friends, as they will recognise you ... our wisdom and knowledge will also increase...."
Mons. Hugh Benson Heaven and Earth (through the mediumship of Anthony Borgia).

MANY NDErs COME BACK WITH DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF FUTURE EVENTS When he was eight years old, Rev. Bill McDonald almost died of complicated health issues. He felt himself fading and slipping away into a state of consciousness outside of his body. Then he encountered a magnificent Light and felt embraced by the "Mother of the Universe." He also had multiple visions of future personal and public events, which came true in his later years.

PARAMAHANSA YOGANANDA DESCRIBES THE ASTRAL WORLD

"You are always there, https://www.victorzammit.com/images/Paramhansa Yogananda.jpgunknowingly linked with the astral source from which the life and intelligence and sensory powers of your physical body are constantly flowing. You are working from that astral plane. Even though you think you are a material being dependent on the material world, you are not. You should learn to get acquainted with your real base of operations.

Suppose you have two houses—one in the slums where there is constantly turmoil and fighting going on, and another in the beautiful section of town where there is order and harmony. When you go to your better home, you find peace and contentment. That is what I urge you: Live in the consciousness of your finer astral body rather than "slumming" in the physical". Read this fascinating explanation of the connection between two worlds.

BUDDHA AT THE GAS PUMP: INTERVIEWS WITH ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO ARE AWAKENING SPIRITUALLY "One night in 1997 Richard Schoeller thought he was dying because he found himself surrounded by both sets of deceased grandparents. They reassured him that it wasn’t his time to join them in the afterlife and that their visit was to help him understand that he could now “see them.” Who could ignore a visit like that? Richard had to learn more about what had just happened, so he began taking classes and researching the ability to communicate with those who have passed into spirit." Access main site.

https://www.victorzammit.com/images/vicrussiasm7.jpgCOMMENTARY: THE IMPOSSIBLE TO PASS TEST When materialists and closed-minded skeptics refuse to accept the objective evidence for the afterlife I am reminded of a courtroom scene. Imagine that the police prosecutor in a case of murder has brought in one hundred witnesses. All of these witnesses are highly accredited scientists, doctors, lawyers, writers, psychiatrists, psychologists, physicists, and many others. All of the witnesses state that they saw the accused pull the trigger and shoot the victim five times in the chest.

Then the defense lawyer stands up and argues the debunkers' argument:
    • all the prosecution witnesses are hallucinating.
    • they were all hypnotized.
    • they are all in collusion with the prosecutor.
    • alternatively all of these witnesses are projecting their guilt onto the accused.
    • these witnesses exteriorized their own energy collectively which killed the victim.
    And if all else fails,
    • it was super-ESP.

Clearly, when assessing the evidence for the afterlife, closed-minded materialists apply a test that will guarantee the phenomena being investigated will not be accepted under any circumstances. This is the "I will not believe in the afterlife even if you can prove it to me" test, which, of course, is impossible to pass.

In the meantime many open-minded people are enjoying wonderful direct contact with their loved ones in spirit and glorying in the certainty of a grand reunion.

JOHN CLEESE: THE ONE QUESTION THAT REALLY MATTERS Comedian John Cleese makes the important point that the only question that should really matter to people is the existence of the afterlife, and yet all the media is filled with trivia. John Cleese has been interested in the afterlife for many years, having worked closely with Dr. Edward Kelly of the Division of Personality Studies at the University of Virginia.

INSTRUMENTAL TRANS-COMMUNICATION BRINGS IMAGES OF LOVED ONES FROM THE AFTERLIFE The picture below on the right is of a young man, Christian, while alive. On the left is his picture as it appeared on a TV screen in a public demonstration of ITC by Hans Otto König in front of a large audience in Germany. This picture is only one example of many contacts that were made at that time. The boy's mother, who recognised the picture as her son, was in the hall but had never met Hans before the demonstration. Sometimes people from the audience recognized in the visual contacts transmitted by the spiritual world as beloved people who passed away, sometimes not. Dr. Anabela Cardoso wrote a great article about another demonstration, this time of an acoustic (sound) contact using the HRS system in her ITC journal. You can learn more about Hans Otto König's work on his website www hansottokoenig. de and in the English translation of his book Listen, with a preface from Craig Hogan’

THE IMPORTANCE OF VERIDICAL PERCEPTIONS IN NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES Materialists try to explain away near-death experiences as an illusion caused by a dying brain. But they cannot explain the fact that thousands of people, while unconscious and clinically dead, see and hear what is going on around them in a way that current science considers impossible.

DISTINGUISHED SCIENTISTS DISCOVERED THE AFTERLIFE In another superb https://www.victorzammit.com/images/michaeltymn.jpgpiece of research, Michael Tymn states "It wasn’t long after the birth of modern Spiritualism in 1848 that scientists and scholars began investigating the phenomena. Many of them started out with the intent of showing that all mediums were charlatans, but one by one they came to believe in the reality of mediumship and related psychic phenomena.  A few of them sat on the fence when it came to professing a belief in the spirit world, but others were more courageous. Here are testimonials from the earliest researchers". Read more.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO DIE? Dr. https://www.victorzammit.com/images/AtwaterdevelopingHumans.jpgPMH Atwater knows - she died three times. She writes: "There is no pain at the moment of death. Only peaceful silence. . . calm. . . quiet. But you still exist. It is easy not to breathe. In fact, it is easier, more comfortable, and infinitely more natural not to breathe than to breathe. The biggest surprise for most people in dying is to realize that dying does not end life. Whether darkness or light comes next, or some kind of event, be it positive, negative, or somewhere in-between, expected or unexpected, the biggest surprise of all is to realize you are still you. You can still think, you can still remember, you can still see, hear, move, reason, wonder, feel, question ..." Read more.

    WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE?
Maurice Barbanell was the medium for Silver Birch for over 60 years until he joined him in the spirit world in 1981. His book "They Shall be Comforted" written in 1936 was based on the teachings of his guide. Here's an extract.

"You must dismiss from your mind the old-fashioned theological idea that, after “death", there is an undisturbed eternal sleep. There may be, at first, a short time of rest to enable the newly-arrived spirit to adjust himself to his new life. This usually takes a little time. Then he meets those who have preceded him. Families are reunited. Old associations are re-established. Friendships are renewed.

I know the question you will ask is, “How will I be able to recognise those who have gone before?” This is not a real difficulty. They will know you, having watched over you and kept in constant touch with you. Then, because the spirit world is a place where thought is the reality, they will be able to show themselves to you as you knew them." Read more.

UPDATE ON JURGEN ZIEWE'S ASTRAL OVERVIEW EFFECT PROJECT
For many years, out-of-body experiencer and visual artist Jurgen Ziewe has grappled with the challenge of being able to fully share with people the reality of the astral worlds. The rapid development of computer technology in the last few years has suddenly made possible his Astral Overview Effect Project. He has just completed a second virtual reality app that captures something of his experiences in the higher astral realms - an experience often described as "cosmic consciousness".

If you already have an Oculus Quest or an Oculus Go, you can download the app from here. Otherwise, you can get a less immersive version in the video below. To learn more about Jurgen's Work visit his webpage, his Youtube channel, and read his books.

    ANDY PUDDICOMBE'S TED TALK
In his early twenties, midway through a university degree in Sports Science, Andy made the unexpected decision to travel to the Himalayas to study meditation instead. It was the beginning of a ten-year journey that took him around the world, culminating with ordination as a Tibetan Buddhist monk in Northern India. His transition back to lay life in 2004 was no less extraordinary. Training briefly at Moscow State Circus, he returned to London where he completed a degree in Circus Arts with the Conservatoire of Dance and Drama, whilst drawing up the early plans for what was later to become Headspace - a website sharing guided meditations, animations, articles and videos, all in the distinct Headspace style.

    BEAUTIFUL CHANNELED MESSAGE
Our good friend Rev. Jimbeau Walsh, a member of the Divine Love Sanctuary Foundation, sent us this recent message that he received from one of his regular spirit communicators.

"I wish to tell you there is much light in the world. Billions praying, meditating, chanting, longing for change, longing for harmony and peace, for sustainability. Your light joins them and collectively you lift the planet and the vibration which I tell you my dear friends can heal the whole planet, and will, in fact, bring the change you so desire, we so desire.

https://www.victorzammit.com/images/Jimbeauplay&sing.jpgThis is also why you are drawn to music, a vibration that is easily felt and beautiful music lifts every soul, touches every heart, connects the longings to The Creator. So pray and sing and send out the love. We are with you in this endeavor in this blessing, in healing, and in the beautiful transformation of every soul here in God’s love."

    FEEDBACK (Four this week).

https://www.victorzammit.com/images/feedback.jpg1) "I love this week’s report on near-death experiences. And about the number of Nobel prize-winning scientists who have investigated the paranormal. It’s just amazing. You gave me the answers I was looking for, backed by science and objectivity. Now life after death is a fact that no one can deny. Thank you Victor and Wendy for enlightening the lives of many people". William

    2) "Another stellar and even magnificently superlative report this week! Thanks ever so much for both your good work and superb dedication to these critically important matters". Sean

    3)
"Excellent informational reporting on the topic of UFOs. It's time this topic be brought out for rational intelligent discussion and critical analysis. Numerous spirit communications for centuries have revealed there is life on other worlds (some more believable than others based on our current knowledge of science). All need to be subject to scrutiny, as should all spirit communications". Yvonne.

    4) "The (Louie Schwartzberg) quote is quite extraordinary. It led me to the following: Louie Schwartzberg's new Wonder & Awe podcast launches on August 4th on Facebook Live. It is a podcast exploring the intersection between art and science". Analise

HIGHLY INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC: PERFECT SYMPHONY There is something magical about this duet that brings together two of the world's most popular musicians, singing in different languages and different styles. It takes us back to focusing on the good things of life - love, friendship, family, music. Please remember that musicians, actors, and all creative artists are being hard-hit by the lockdowns and need our support at this time.
