  1. I did a little looking around and found a rather interesting fork of Audacity called "Dark Audacity" at www.darkaudacity.com/ - It is based off version 2.3.2x - I'd recommend reading the About section to get the full skinny on it all, but it is a fork from before the Russian debacle and seems to run just fine on my Windows setup. Enjoy.
  2. I removed the latest one and installed 2.42 for Windows - See https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity-old.html for the old versions of Audacity... Thanks for this post.
  3. I am in the final stages of writing a book on EVP and during this research of the past couple of years, I noticed that many of the people I wrote about had NO findagrave profiles or had no indication of their EVP/ITC research on their findagrave entries. George and Jeannette Meek are once such couple who I added images for. I have created an online cemetery of people for people in the EVP/ITC world at https://www.findagrave.com/virtual-cemetery/1487139.

It is a good place to find all of them and I'm more than glad to add new names if anyone cares to add more. It is also a good research tool for those wanting to know more basics of these many people who have contributed so much to EVP and ITC research!

Hi Karyn - Nice to meet you - I tend to use Findagrave because it is what I know. I gathered many of the existing profiles or added those that were missing based on my research and it is admittedly an incomplete and imperfect effort, but the fact is that *someone* tried to do something to round up some of these remarkable people into a single place. Findagrave offers such a mechanism with it's virtual cemeteries. It is striking how many of these entries were in Findagrave for famous personalities who had contributed to EVP and ITC research, but nary a word was said on their profiles about this aspect of their work.
I do note that Findagrave has a lot of Australian entries, but give you the point that there are other such databases in existence. If I caused offense from my U.S.-centric post, I offer my apology.

      Sincerely

      Jon

      Hi Jon,

I look forward to your book.  The sad part is that most people have kept this type of information to themselves for fear of ruining their reputation.  Oh by the way I am used to US- centric viewpoints.  I have found in my rather longish life that few from the US travel outside so they tend to have of course only one view. No offense taken, I just wanted to let you know that different countries may have other ways to search.

Yes, getting back to knowledge of what we accept it is really only tentatively coming out of the woodwork peoples "hidden history".  Mostly it has happened due to high profile people having nde's.

Few Americans know that Lincoln was a spiritist and one could argue to some degree was a medium.  Few still know that the oration for his funeral was delivered by non other than Emily Hardinge Britten.  People still argue today that they did not have seances in the white house.  Of course most know that Nancy Reagan would do nothing until she daily consulted with "the afterlife".

Even one of our sayings makes sense when you hear how it came about.  To get into a funk, came about because even though he knew he was being untruthful I think it was about Emily French he lied to keep his reputation.

I applaud your work not for the faint hearted but oh so needed.  I would advise you to have a look at the works of N. Riley Heagerty or the website of Victor Zammit which is massive and historically based.  https://victorzammit.com/

Glad to have you on board.

      Blessings

      Karyn

Hi Karyn - Oh yes on the other ways to search. I've done extensive research on some of these folks, like Raudive, Dion Fortune, and many others who lives have touched aspects of EVP and ITC. Finding details of their final passing and burials could be hard to locate and I found a lot by using Google website translation to search foreign sites as well. It's been a labor of love to find much of this for my research. I'm having a heck of a time finding more on what happened with Marcello Bacci. I know he died recently, but there is nary a word about the circumstances and place of his burial. I do plan to cover him in great detail in my second book.
LOL on worrying about reputation. I was an information scientist for a lot of years in the aerospace business and I could care less what the conformists think. Being retired makes it all that much easier to say what I really think. The way I see it, the ITC pioneers went through far harder stuff than we ever have, so the least we can do is to be as up-front about our views as we can be and honor their work in doing so.
I had known about Lincoln and Mary Todd with their Spiritualism connections, but never have looked into in depth. I will likely put some effort into following that up in book 2. Yes on the Reagans... I was a teen when Reagan came into office and remember the field day the Press had with Nancy's metaphysical leanings. Never mind that most of the Press have metaphysical lives as well that they keep secret.
I will look at N. Riley Heagerty. I have used Victor's site in references for my current book and he is truly one of a kind. I will say this: Even though I've been recording EVP for better than 15 years, when I started this book last year, I had NO idea how little I knew. It has been a humbling experience to dive into all of this.
Appreciate your kind reply and will be a regular here! - Jon

  4. Nice to meet you Michael - I just joined Varanormal too! It is good to meet other researchers! How did you get into this work?
  5. Hi, My name is Jon Almada. I am a EVP researcher out of Northern California. I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas and live on an old haunted gold mining property. I have seen and heard spirits for my entire life and view it as something of an everyday phenomena, but still find myself surprised at the things that happen. My next door neighbor just passed while on a trip to Alaska and I was surprised that he came to visit me on the night he died on the cruise ship. He stood at my door to say goodbye and I wasn't sure WHO had come to visit, it was just that his energy was so blasted powerful. All I saw was a white misty shape. I commented to my girlfriend online about it and then was shocked when his wife arrived home the following week and I received the news. It was yet another case where I spoke up and documented the sighting and it later proved to be evidence of survival. My friend is now in the Other World and while missed, he seemed happy and full of energy in the two times he has appeared here. I am something of an EVP magnet and enjoy recording them. My website at soulstreamradio.com has quite a few of my captures on it. I once counted and I have something like 4,000 EVP captures in my 15 years or so of doing this work. Anyway, there is ALWAYS something to learn and I was glad to find Varanormal and hope to interact with other like minds and keep on the process of learning! So, I'm sticking my hand out with a silly grin and saying "Hello!" to all of you! Jon
  6. Glad to find this forum. I work extensively with EVP and am in the final stages of a book on EVP history. I also broadcast weekly on soulstreamradio.com with shows about the paranormal.
